Friends gsx breaks plugs

I know this cant be normal. I was helping my friend replace his plugs when we noticed 2 plugs were broken! The part were you gap broke off, what could be the problem?

...thats very abnormal, maybe using the wrong plugs and the pistons are hitting, or the plug is too hot and burns it self out...or, has this thing over heated recently?...wait was this thing even running like this, because it was probably running on only 2 cylinders

Does the plug look like it could be burnt and how long has it been in the car. The car could be running to lean and burning the end of the plug off.

If it was running too lean....the plug would be grey-ish(unless racing fuel was used). So what color is the plug?

could have weakenend the metal and or cracked the plug when trying to gap it (either himself or some mechanic) and then through wear and tear the crack/fatigue became exasperated and broke it completely off. 173 psi to 0psi for 4 times a second for several days is alot on a weakend part.

Tell your friend to stay away from the Bosch Platinum plugs. There are known incidents that they burn and fall into the cylinder. Your friend must be driving with a bar hesitating and bucking like crazy. That alone should had been an indicator.

Get copper core plugs (NGK BPR6ES or 7ES) and be done with it. Check also for A/F ratio just to be on the safe side.

I just oredered those plugs (BPR7ES) and got them today from www.boneheadperformance.com they run alot cooler to i like them alot you should suggest to your friend to get them. Also only 20.00 Bucks too!!!

boost controller
kn filter
At the time he was using Bosch regular plugs! The plugs were white, meaning lean.

$20 for four plugs?????!!!

I get them less than $2 each at Autozone, actually $1.67 each. My Vette's plugs (all 8) do not even amount to $20 for all 8.

He probably should turn the boost down or get an upgraded fuel pump at least. Yea, $20 bucks? WTF I get BPR8ES for even cheaper than that.

You got F***ED if you payed $20 for 4 NGK BPR7ES's I get them for like $1.65 ea. locally like mentioned above. These are the plugs to go with if you have a moderatly modded car though.

I would say mild modded because you are running 18PSI with fuel mods and a larger intercooler with exhaust and so on. I'd run the BPR7ES's if you are over 15psi and over 20psi I would run the 8ES's, below 15psi run stockers 6ES's but thats just what I would do but there is no right or wrong answer because its all about tune. BPR7ES plugs are fine @27psi
Most of us on this board won't ever need BPR8ES plugs.

Ummm, no! We don't run 8ES's at over 20psi of boost. I've run 28psi on stock range plugs although I use 7ES's most of the time. Running an 8ES will do nothing more than load up the plug and foul it on anything less the the most serious turbos/boost loads.

Sorry for the miss info. I guess I was under the understanding that it is a recomended to run them over 20 or more psi. I will never get more than 22 or so I would never change to them. Sorry once again.
