first off let me say hi. names steve from wisconsin, currently only have half of a dsm (motor, trans, ecu, wiring, awd components and suspension) for a project car. putting it into a ford festiva, you know those ugly ass itty bitty tin cans. why? ### i get bored easily and i think it would be funny as hell. anyway my current car is a 95 civic hatch with a boosted h2b swap.

so now to my question, im having a extremely hard time. my buddy who is a dsm freak, wants to swap the 2.0 non turbo motor and trans over to a gto or 3000 gt tt and awd. ive tried everything under the frickin sun to talk him out of it and to put a 4g into it instead....but he for some reason or another just wont listen. sooo i would like some feed back on this...ive searched the forum and only got a hit an miss few things....nothing really exactly what i was looking for. and since he wont listen to me i figured you guys could answer with the CONS of performing this kinda well basically retarded ass swap

I could understand the swap to a festiva, because of the power/weight ratio; but i do NOT understand the 2.0 swap into the 3000gt. Those cars are HEAVY to begin with. The 6g72 that comes with those are powerful in the TT form; heck even the non-turbo DOHC version isn't that bad... idk why he would want to get rid of it!!

Tell him if he insists on it to get at least an srt4 engine. ;)

Another DSMer from Madison! Welcome to the forum. And, as said in posts before, your friend is retarded. A 3000gt with a 420a or a nonturbo 4g63 would make it 5x slower because they are fairly heavy to begin with.

maybe I didn't word it right LOL. he has a 1st gen talon, an wants to swap in the 6g72. an im tryin to talk him out of that an into 4g63

Well that sounds a little better, but its still a waste of time. It sounds like he just wants to have something he can brag about.
But seriously, the custom fabrication for that swap is tremendous (if its even possible in a 1g)... From a monetary stand point: 4G63>6G72. Build the 4G63T and be done with it.

There have been a few people that have done it, but it's a bit pointless. More of just a "I had too much time on my hands and wanted to see if it would fit" sorta thing."

The 4g63 can make plenty of power on it's own, so swapping it out is just a bunch of work for no real gain.

For the amount of money you would spend putting that engine in a talon, you could have just gotten a big turbo, DSMlink, front mount and injectors and be making way more power.

I have a 6G72 in my 2001 Galant. Its a good NA motor and I am happy with its performance. I wanted to turbo it to get more power and make it my go fast car. After about a year I just got a DSM instead. I have about 425whp 1g AWD and wouldn't trade it for any V6 boosted or not! And that is on an 18g.

IIRC, all 1Gs comes with a 4G63 (unless its the 1.8) and the 4G63T should be a direct swap for him. He will need a turbo ECU for the knock sensor provision, but just get a complete longblock and do the swap. Hell, there are plenty of people on here with NA motors that are turboed, so thats even an option.

Are there any locals that could take him for a ride in an AWD DSM with at least 300whp? He'll change his mind pretty quick. :thumb:
