Unless your talking about hacking the aircan I strongly suggest you don't hack the MAF. This was something we used to to a long time ago to lean the car our and flow more air before we had better tools.

Nowdays, once you reach the limits of a 1G MAF and start overruning it you can upgrade to a 2G MAF or a GM one with a MAFT.

i was refering to taking out the honeycomb thing and the silencer. is that what you're talking about?

Silencer is ok to remove but leave the honeycombs and lower passage alone.
If you you want to lean the car out get an SAFC or and EPROM ECU and change the fuel maps. Hacking the MAF makes it harder to get the car tuned right since every hack job is different and the compensation curve would be unique to your MAF.

Yeah, you see the squarish thing bolted into the UICP between the BOV and the throttle body? That's the GM MAS, though I can't tell if that's a 3" or a 3.5". They're also running without heatshields, which can completely fry your alternator over time. They don't like to get that hot. :b

LOL, that not a free mod. In the foirst picture they are running a GM MAF with translator in blow through mode. I suspect the second will be set up that way too or running a standalone ECU in speed density mode.

Ahhh...ok. So if I get the GM MAF, set it up like that, it will enable me to put my k&n on the turbo? I really want my engine bay to look like the first pic. Money is no object, I'm making 22.40/hr now, 12 hr days. I really wish i knew who's car that was. What is blow through mode? Or should i be posting this in a diff forum? thnx.

the realy time i see the filter on the turbo is race cars, blow throght is use the gm trans again with setting it up it let you vent to the air will out ill efeact. no to be an ass but if you do an seach about it you will find out about it.

you can get a blow through intake pipe from dejontool tho, for 90 bucks, or 4 hours in your case,... damn, WHERE DO YOU WORK?!?!? blow through means that there are no restrictions, so removing the mas, bov dump, silencers, everything except the k and n... as for the gm maf, that upper intercooler pipe looks really clean, anyone know which one that is, i was looking at the one from dejon, but thats only a 2.5 inch with buldges for the gm maf, which i dont think looks that good... please telll me that isnt like the greddy or something, cuz i AM on a budget...
