I plan on running a 255 high pressure fuel pump so i know i need a fuel pressure regulator. Choosing a fpr on other peoples impressions which vary so widely has'nt been helping me to much. My question is with this fuel pump will i need a fpr that is fully adjustable or will i be ok with say, the buschur fpr and a 1g fuel rail?

Sure. You just need an afpr that will allow you to lower base fuel pressure. I'll be upgrading the to the Bushur AFPR soon.

The Buschur FPR is fully adjustable.

Im just worried from what ive heard the 255 high pressure pump might raise my base fuel pressure and im concercned with not being able to turn it down. I was told with the buschur afpr i would only be able to turn the pressure up.

you can get a regular 1:1 aeromotive FPR...get a aluminum -6 bung welded to you fuel rail and used braided lines/fittings to hook it all up...thats what i did..

bushcur FPR: $275

my setup: (parts from jegs)

aeromotive FPR: $131
(2)-6 for FPR $28
-6 weld fitting $5
-6 plug for FPR $5
(2)-6 strait hose end $12
-6 90deg. hose end $16
3ft of -6 braided $16
jegs 0-100 FP guage $20

Total: $233

add another 10-15 for welding brings the total to under $250...and thats will all aeroquip and earls fittings..you can prolly get the in-house jegs fittings and trim the price more

seems like alot of parts, kind is, but it looks alot better and its easily transferable on other cars if you ever decided to sell it

The B&M CommandFlo Fuel Pressure Regulator is the one that allows you to only raise the fuel pressure.

why would you wanna lower your FP? dont you want more fuel>>???

By increasing flow (high flow rate pump), and maintaining the same restriction (regulator), the pressure is automoticaly increased. So, to maintain the same amount of fuel being dumped, the restriction needs to be reduced (fully adjustable regulator), or different injectors need to be used or a different pulse setting for the same injectors.

There is no real sense in upgrading fuel pumps unless a greater amount of flow is required in order to maintain a pressure under higher consumption of fuel. Bigger Injectors and a way of controlling the amount of fuel being dumoed are required in order to take fuel advantage of the fuel delivery upgrade for economy and optimal power. :)

So I'm guessing with my 580cc injectors and 255 pump I should go ahead and buy a fpr?

at idle, a non-rewired walbro 255 (regular, not the HP) bumps up base fuel pressure (with hose ON) to 42psi. You might run a tad rich, but other than that, it's not gonna hurt anything. Take a few % points out with the afc if you are concerned.

Re-wiring a 255 will probably bump up base fuel pressure another 1-2psi. I run my GSX at 45psi base, with 660's, and it idles like a dream (when it's running LOL)

Thanks everyone for your help. BR fpr is on the way. I took the easy way out.
