FPR install

I am having some serious trouble installing my Aeromotive FPR. I bought the kit from Slowboy that makes it a nice bolt on ordeal. Pretty much everything is perfect, except for the end fittings that go onto the stainless line. The holes on the fittings seem too small to fit on the SS line. I have tried forcing them on, and it just pushed on the SS braid and frays it. I tried pushing it in with a screw driver and it wouldnt work. I then tried cutting the braid off the ends with a dremel and cutting tool, but that didn't work because we kept cutting through a bit of the rubber line inside. Finally, we just pulled back some of the braid and the fitting fit perfectly over the rubber line. Is it ok to leave it like this? I have taken it to several shops, one that sells fittings, and they said the fittings are horrible because the ends are too small. Has anyone else had any problems with this kit and how did you get it to work?

If you're talking about the red fitting that is part of the kit they sell, yes, it is a major PITA to do but there is a trick. First, take some electrical tape and wrap a single or double layer around the SS weave. Then take your dremel and cut through the middle of the tape, so you have one end with tape on it still. Then, shove the end into the red fitting with the tape still on the end of the SS line. It's a pita, but this is how I did it. I bet I spent hours getting that exact kit put together.

Yes, I am talking about that red fitting and I have tried that trick.....4-5 times. A local DSM shop pointed me in the direction of an air and hydraulic store that could probably take care of it for me really cheap or even free

whatever works for ya man, I at least tried getting each on about 15-20 times before it worked. Anything in the future I do with SS line is going to be pre-put together.

Funny I just finished putting my kit together tonight and I stumbled on this by accident...

I could not get the fittings over the line so I flared out the metal wrap and bent it back over itself. This exposed the rubber line underneath it about 3/4 of an inch. The fitting was still farily tight over just the rubber line. I screwed everthing together and couldn't pull the line out with all my strength. I then wrapped some electrical tape over the metal sleeving to keep it from fraying or cutting me.

I could do a fitting in about 2 minutes with this method....
