stock 6 bolt with no BS. Currently running a 16g and pulling oil from my oil filter housing. Can i just swap the turbos out or will i need to run any type of a restrictor? Will i be required to port my oil relief valve?

If you guys could give me a run down on all of this. I'm a little confused after reader many posts on the topic.

Thanks,
Mike

theres a bunch of posts out there, but since i just bought a green myself, i can answer. Since its a journal bearing and not a ball bearing, you can run it from the head or the filter housing without a restrictor. The water lines are optional to use,

I actually contacted FP about this.

They said it HAS to be run from the filter housing.

These are sections of there email i received yesterday.

"Run the turbo off the oil filter housing WITH NO RESTRICTOR!!
Do NOT use anything but a brand new FP SS oil supply line. Never reuse
a oil
line regardless of mileage on previous turbo."

"the turbo should see 65-85 psi above 4000rpm. Too much oil pressure
will not
only allow the turbo to leak oil but will put too much stress on you
oil
pump and rob you of horsepower. Porting the bypass is the most accepted

"DO NOT restrict it or feed it from the head, doing so will damage the
turbo
and void the warranty."

my pte 50trim leaked when fed from the housing with no balance shafts.. i ran a -3an line and all was well after that

do you know what your oil pressure was? i'm not to sure what mine is yet since my car is still in pieces, but a lot of people said there oil pressure rised over the recommened pressure with the BS removed.

I say port the relief valve for sure in your situation.
And they said the turbo is to see no more than 65-85 psi but most dsms without
balance shafts see up to, or well over 100 psi like I did. ( Ported mines )

If you dont port relief valve and dont run a restrictor youd have to run it from the head
just to not over oil the turbo. They are contradicting themselves with that quote.

One thing i realized. The reading your getting is from the oil pump itself, its not how much pressure is going to the turbo. You've got to realize that the oil line being so small acts as a restrictor and should knock down the pressure a bit to the turbo itself.

My buddy has his BS elminated, but he left his front one in and got rid of the belt. his oil pressure is around 80 on the high way which isn't to bad at all.

Its not my turbo or warranty...But, I would say call or email FP. That way they let you know personally. I could tell you how to do it since I run the green but for your sake give them a shout. They built it and know what they are doing and how they want the oil to be feed.

This guy has the right idea :thumb:

When in doubt do what the manufacture says, then when it blows up send it back with a repair bill ROFL

Seriously id follow the FP recomendations, and NEVER EVER feed a rotating device dirty head vavlecover oil :notgood: even considering feeding a turbo off the head is ludacris :nono: filtered oil only :dsm:
