Alright, got the brackets made and finally got all of the front bumper support cut out so it will fit around it. The only question that I have is what is the best way to trim the front bumper without messing up the paint? I have a box cutter that I trimed the top of it with and it worked great, but it was a part of it that wasn't painted.

Any help will be appreciated.

Thanks,

David

I like to get the blade hot with some sort of open flame. It will cut through that stuff like butter. Make it super easy and any bends look alot smoother IMO.

Good idea, never thought about that. If you heat up the blade it doesn't affect the paint does it? I just want to make sure that I don't have to get the front bumper repainted after I get everything the way that I want it.

I will try to post some pics of the install. It is a huge intercooler. I had to trim the very top of the front bumper so it would go around. The core goes from the very top of the bumper to the very bottom. I mounted it the first time and it hung below the bumper by 2 inches so I had to move it up.

The only advice I can give if anybody is going to do this install is to go ahead and save yourself the trouble and buy a recipricating saw, it is well worth the money when you go to cutting that front bumper support.

One other question is what about a dremel tool? Do you think that if I use that with a cut off wheel that it would mess the paint up? I think that would be a lot easier and I could make the cut a lot cleaner.

The dremel should not hurt the paint, just use the little cut-off wheels. I bet that thing is huge ;)

The dremel tool worked great. I still didn't trim enough of the bumper off. I got to pull it off again and trim some more of it off so the bottom of the bumper will sit right.

I did get a pic of the car with the front mount on and just the bumper support on. After I get the front bumper on there and looking decent then I will post some pics. I should be getting my piping bent next weekend, so I can see how much of a difference it's going to make.

Looks pretty good, is it just me, or does it look a little crooked? Maybe it is the bumper cover.

yea it looks to me like the intercooler is mounted a lil crooked, but other than that :thumb:

Yeah, I forgot to mention that. I did notice once I got the bumper support mounted on there that the intercooler wasn't straight. I am going to have to move the passenger side up a little bit to get it to sit right.

David

Yes, the side mount is still on there because I don't have piping for the front mount yet. I should be getting piping made this weekend and then that side mount will be gone.
