Okay, another thing i'm wondering about is my new intake I bought. I have the Greddy Type rs bov which vent out. So right now on my stock intake i have the bov return tube capped. Now when i put this new intake on that ill eliminate the bov return and I won't have to worry about it anymore, right??
However, i've vented before with the RFL and had to go back to the stock bov, now I'm giving it another chance. If I get this new intake on, and get an apexi safc, I should be okay right? Venting isn't too bad is it??

Thanks
Chris

How well does the 2g mass fit up to the 4in pipe. It says the circumference is the same soo the mas coupler fits on the mas and around the pipe. Any one have any pics or comments on this. Thanks

Nothing short of a MAF-T will allow you to vent without any negative effects.

I disagree, I know it will help with it. But i have ran a Hks ssq and a tial without any problems venting. When I crushed my 1g it didnt have a problem dying at stops. So could you say if you have troubles try a maft instead of spreading false info.

Thanks

Just because it idle's doesn't mean your not running rich between shifts when all that meterd air is dumped into the atmosphere.

I agree, because when i vented my tial and had the return pluged off on the mas my car idled fine but somtimes at partial throtle my car would stumble bcasue of it being to rich. but now i have a MAF-T and i doesntstumble at all and the car pulls harder. So i highly suggest you get a MAF-T so you can lean it out some a get more power.

now this might be a stupid question, but you can't learn unless you ask. Can you explain the MAF-T? i know what it is, but what do I need and well yeah if you could just help me out and educate me that would be cool.. I'm not going to pretend I know what it's all about!! :thumb:

Thanks a lot

Also, I noticed on the bov box that I can buy a pipe that recirculates. Now with my new intake, if I recirculate, I would need the bov return tube on the intake right??? Since i have one without am I screwed, or just don't worry about it and after hearing about the maf-t get that?

A Maf-T translates the signal from a GM Maf so you can use it on a DSM. The GM maf is able to be placed in the intercooler piping on the positive pressure side of the turbo. This allows you to put the bov before the maf, allowing you to vent air to the atmosphere before it is metered.

Wish it looked like that underneath my hood. Yeesh, that's clean as hell.

Anyway, yeah, 4inch intake will work on the stock 2G MAS.

And yes, you will need to have the BOV recirculation on the intake in order to recirculate it (along with the RS recirculation kit that I haven't been able to find).

There are -many- discussions about why NOT to vent to the atmosphere without a MAFT. If you really want to know why it isn't a good idea, go read a few of them. In short, you'll have problems ranging from barely noticable to making the car run like absolute crap. It really isn't worth it unless you absolutely have to. But the key words there are you WILL have problems.

As always, though, just my $0.02.

Thanks a lot everyone for your replies. I know understand all of this, and I'm deciding on my next move. I'd like to recirculate my RS, but the intake I just bought which is identical to the one in the pic above only it doesn't have a bov return tube. So I'm probably going to get the maf-t. So i need to get the maf-t and the GM 3"maf right!!!!

Thanks again

Or you could always just get a recirulation pipe welded onto that intake, and get the recirculation kit for the RS (when they are available). It would more than likely be a lot cheaper than buying a MAFT, GM-MAF, and the piping required to run it.

Although the MAFT is an excellent tuning tool. So if you're looking for something to tune with as well, then you might as well get the MAFT and GM-MAF and kill two birds with one stone.

Just as an FYI.. I bought the FP 4" intake for my 1990 for use with a 2G MAS and it came within 3-4" of the firewall/headlight popup mechanism. Beautiful piece, but could not find an air filter that would fit so ended up selling and picking up a used 3.5" Dejon intake and gained several more inches clearance.

no problem. I'd like to see a whole picture of that engine bay.

I was looking at the intake and it looks like it once had a bov return, but it was taken off and then sealed. Well I'd have to sell this one of course before i buy another. If anyone wants this let me know!!!! I have pics too..

Thanks everyone for the input

No problem Gary. Glad to see that some people are interested. Hoping to win this weekend at the shows.

I like the bling. What can I say. :thumb:
