Fp 3176 hta turbo????

Ok so you guys im in need of some advice.
My plan was to run the fp green turbo on my 2gen 97 eclipse gst
Because I am looking for a good street/strip turbo to run.i did my researched and ended up making my mind and wanted to get the fp green.i called fp but they told me that the fp green was not available and didnt know when they were going to be making them again.so they made me an offer in getting the fp 3176hta turbo.they told me it was capable in making 400hp just like the green but the spool was a little later so im wondering if any of you have ran that turbo kit or are running it and if so how is it.is it worth it???:hmm:
 
Here is a retarded question, Is it more like a 50 or a 60 trim turbo? I dont want to bolt this up and have it be too much for me. I like hard hitting turbos and I want to be in the 400 hp range but I dont want something that should be ran at higher boost levels. Think 18-20 PSI would be good to run on this?
 
Based on my calculation, the 76HTA compressor has a trim of 52 (76mm exducer and 54.8mm inducer on that unit)....however, trim doesn't really matter unless you're comparing a series of compressor wheels with identical exducer measurements. To put this into perspective, a T25 compressor is around a 55 trim.

This isn't a turbo you'd buy with intentions to run it at 18psi.....that would be the Evo III 16G.
 
Yea, I want to run it lower for now and up it when my bottom end isn't stock anymore. Maybe I should have gotten the 68HTA instead haha. Oh well at least I'll have something for later on when I finish the build
 
I wonder if FP plans on throwing up some dyno charts anytime soon on their website. Surely someone has installed this setup and made some decent numbers with their claimed 60lbs/min. With that in mind, you really shouldn't have to ask if 400whp is capable with this turbo.

What psi would you suggest on a fp3065? and do they have the same issues in the design with notable flaws in the thrust system and fragile oiling??
 
not sure if anyone is looking at this thread anymore but i got this turbo about mid summer had it installed and tuned by english racing it wasnt cheap but that turbo is capable of much more than 400 to the wheels i hit 430 and that was only at 25 psi and with a fuel system that just couldnt really keep up.
im shooting for alot more this coming year on that same turbo id like to max out my fuel system this time and see what it makes although i dont think a twin 255 set up is going to maxed out too easily LOL
