This morning i was checking to make sure my radiator was full of water. I pulled out the reservoir tank which was bone dry and proceded to pull out the long black tube that goes down into the tank when i noticed some black thick oil caked on the outside of the tube and the inside of the reservoir tank. The car seems to be running fine but i am clueless as to how thick black oil got into the reservoir through the radiator. Whats wrong with my car?

That is usually the signs of a leaking head gasket. Check the oil for milky goo and also, pressure test the coolant system and see if it holds pressure or bleeds down.

well, I am sorry to say, but when I noticed that, I replaced my Head Gasket it went away, no water in my oil, compression was still great, no other signs, just that............ BUT, before you jump to any conclusions........... clean everything perfect............ then check. ever run more boost then you should have?????????????

It could be a crack in your block too, I had a 1979 mustang cobra that had your problem and I thought it was the head gasket, I replaced it but that didn't fix it about a month later I figured it out that it was the block. "Mustang cobra was a 2.3 four with a turbo 1 hp less then the V8 and half the weight."

the t 25 has been boosting 19 psi for about 40 thousand miles, with a total of 90000 miles on the turbo. I think its about to go though. The power is still there but i can hear it hitting something when i turn the car off and for the first minute that i start the car if i fully boost it. I changed the radiator fluid about 2 weeks ago so i'm gonna check it tonight when i do my oil change and see what color it is. (fingers crossed) also with the though of a leaking HG i was in autozone and saw some product for like 10 dollars that says it will fill in the HG through the radiator. Anyone know if any products that can at least bandaid the problem for a bit? assuming its the HG.

Do not put that stop leak crap in. It gums up your motor. Do it right and replace the HG if that is in fact the problem.
19 psi on a T25 is turbo suicide. I'm surprised it lasted that long honestly. Be prepared to do a turbo swap. Run a compression test and post back your results. Are you losing coolant, or just oil?

i'm not losing coolant or oil, i just found black stuff in the radiator, but i'm glad to hear that that happens if you put waterwetter in cause i had done that aobut 7 months ago. i'll be doing my compression test tonight jsut to be safea nd check everythign out. thanks for the reply's everyone. its been very helpful so far.

Do you take a look on the Oil cap??? if your HG is blown, you may see water and oil mixed in the oil cap, just turn it up-side-down and if you see something as brown chocolate, you may need to replace the HG...

Don't use any of those MAGIC stop leaks fluids... they will kill your turbo also :notgood: ... those stop leaks can block the oil line of the t-25 and kill it!!! , so stay away of those magic fluids...jejejeje

Good luck on compression test!

There is another way to see if it is your head gasket , remove the thermostat , start the car and watch for bubbles with the radiator cap off . If bubbles are appearing it can only come from the HG ( Make sure your radiator is full of course. )
