I found a 1990 eagle talon awd 5speed for sale for a pretty good price but, it says it has an idle proble. I asked the guy about it and he said he checked alot of stuff like boost leaks, ecu, idle ajustment etc. after it gets to operating temp idle jumps and fluctuates from below set idle to up to about 2k sometimes. He did say he removed one of the honeycombs though so I wonder about that? Otherwise the transfer case whines a little so i could probably get a used one for 350-400 if need be right? and it needs outer passenger door handle fixed. but anyways he said the 14 b turbo went so he through a evo16g on and 3 inch exhaust but the rest is stock. He does say he just drives it easy, still stock everything else and evo 16g? It will need bigger injectors for sho. What do you guys think about the idle problem and does the honeycomb and turbo relate?

Blazer 316- I bet this looks familiar

I know about the car and have test drove the car. What he listed about the car is pretty much spot on. The evo lll 16g on is running on stock boost. From my test drive of the car it did pull pretty good but ran into fuel cut at stock boost. The idle would hover around 2500-3000 RPM when at a light, From what I know it has a bad boost leak because the car should pull harder than it did.
The interior of the car is in great shape for its age. There is a rust spot on the passenger side rear quarter that needs to be fixed. The Exhaust is a VRS 3" Turbo back that looked brand spanking new to me but I did spot a problem when I looked under the car. The Transfer case is leaking and needs to be fixed.

The car drove good, everything worked in the car including the A/C. The car tracked straight and I didnt hear any clanging or banging when just crusing around. It does have a slight shake at highway speeds (55mph+) That I would contribute to out of balance tires. The tires are in great shape though and the rims look nice on the car when you see it in person.

All in all for 2200 assuming thats what he told you then its a pretty good deal.

The car was actually supposed to be mine on the 5th of this month but due to my money getting tied up I am forced to wait it out. If you dont buy it then I am, LOL. If you need to know anything else then feel free to ask since I drove the car and saw it in person.

thanks for the response. Yea I may be interested in it if I get my car sold soon, if I could get the idle straightned out with you guys helping me out! It will have to suffice as a dd. so you think the idle is boost leak related? any suggestions?

i would do a compression test....my friend bought a 95 gst for $1,000 and the guy told me it had boost leaks thats why it was idling low but i did a compression test before he bought it and it was getting 90 and would lose compression and found out it was the rings

The ISC, idle speed control.
It's something that has been known to go out, and it will give your symptoms when it does. and sometimes can even be a tough start or can die without any load, but the car should run fine.
Now the other issue that it could be is, a bad driver on the ecu, that can't power up the ISC. not an expensive fix really.
But if the ISC went out, that would bring the resistance to almost zero, increasing load on the ecu, causing that driver to malfunction and burn out. therefore it's not out of the question that it could be both things. each fix would be around $100. and not too time consuming or invasive.

(This is assuming i'm right.. %80??)

If I was buying the car the first thing I would do is try to turn the B.I.S.S screw to see if any carbon may be built up in it. I would then boost leak test the car. If neither help then chances are its just the ISC as stated.
What leads me to believe that the issue is a boost leak is the car will hit fuel cut at only 7 pounds of boost.

The compression is fine, other than the idle problem it purrs like a kitten.
