Forward facing OEM water pump options

First off, yes, I'm aware of the Jay Racing water pump adapter kit:

I'm trying to locate an OEM water pump (no matter what make car it was originally on) that has a 2g water pump bolt pattern but with the inlet facing to the front of the car. This exists for a 1g bolt pattern (MD997615 from a Mighty Max), but I haven't been able to locate a 2g one yet.

I've cross-referenced the 2g gasket through ASA North America, Europe, Japan, and General Export and found the following chassis codes use the same gasket, but all the pictures have the inlet on the side like our factory pumps do.

I also cross-referenced the gasket at Rock Auto, but all of these pumps face the same way as well.

Seems like the most logical thing would be to put a freeze plug in the water tube side, and weld your barb or a/n fitting to the spot that originally had the freeze plug.

I use that style pump on my 2g 7 bolt. A 1995ish mitsubish express van/l300, I think it was a 2L 8v sohc. It did need a few bits trimmed but bolts up fine.

Um, you do realize that the OUTLET for the OEM waterpumps is through the block, right?

Something along those lines is my backup plan if I can't find the pump I want.

If you're going along these routes, why not fab some tubing up, elongate the arm where the freeze plug is, and weld the OEM port shut

I don't know of any of the big names running anything but one off fabbed up waterpumps.

Because I doubt it does? The 2g 7-bolt wasn't used in many cars, unlike the 6-bolt.

It may or may not exist. But caged says it does exist, so I'm going to pursue this more.

Please forgive me for trying to do what I want to do.

That being said, if you have nothing else insightful to add to the thread, please don't clutter it any more than you already have.

I just found that picture, and it makes it look like the inlet of the pump is angled up much more than a DSM one does. As it is with the DSM pump now, I won't even be able to put the hose all the way to the edge of the water pump because it will hit the bottom of the power steering pump bracket first, so having the inlet angled up like that would put it right into the power steering pump for sure.
