Resolved Forward Facing Filter Bracket

JNZ sells them as well. I think one of the guys there told me they were on 1 of the old models of those little Mitsu pickup trucks.

I got mine off of a 95 hyundai elentra I think. I heard most 95 dsm's have them too.
My 95 has a "sideways" facing filter bracket.... I don't think any of the 2G's have the forward facing bracket.

Where did you hear that?

No 2gs came with them, read the bottom paragraph. DOES NOT ALLOW FOR ANY OIL COOLING. There are adapters made by permacool that may allow you to go from housing to "said adapter" to some sort of external aircooled cooler, then to a remote oil filter location using another adapter. BUT I have not seen anyone ever do this plus how much loss is there in pressure in a system like this?. A lot of cars run this housing that do not need ANY oil cooling IE track only cars. Magnus, FP, FFWD (obviously) and several others have been doing it for years. BUT on a street car.... highly unlikely.

I feel your pain on filter swaps and 3" downpipes. But the only reasonable reason to swap filter housings is for an external oil cooler.

I read the link left by hopwoodp it seem to be off a late 80's Mighty Max the part # is MD122260:thumb:

Bingo! I hope that answered your question. The only way I would use this is if I had a super huge downpipe and had my greddy external oil cooler hooked up to that thing.

I talked to Darren at FFWD and he said that he's used them on street cars with out any oil coolers and has seen no damage to an engine, he said that stock oil coolers don't really do much, I'm gonna try to fit the radiator oil cooler onto the bracket just to be safe. If that doesn't fit I might get a oil filter sandwich adapter and run an external, or I might not.

Believe me it will be ok. Most cars dont even notice the difference without it. Ive been running mine without a cooler and the temps went up 1 degree. Not much of a difference.
Your oil temperatures went up 1 degree? Or your coolant temps? Because the oil temperature is what really matters when comparing before/after eliminating the oil cooler.

I'm going to use one. If you are worried about oil temps then just use synthetic. Regular mineral oil starts to burn and break down at around 200* as where synthetic starts to burn and break down around 300*. The oil pan does a fairly good job of cooling the oil. I currently have a 90 filter housing and oil cooler on my car. But it's soon to be replaced by the foward facing filter housing. It will allow the space I need for my 4" downpipe. The oil filter is always in the way of things.

So just get it and make sure you torque your housing bolts to spec so you don't get any oil leaks from it and you will be fine.

I was in a local salvage yard and the oil bracket can also be found on the Eagle Summit with 1.5 or 1.8 I cann't remember with size the engine was

I have the ffwdconnection bracket and have a question about the fitting by the E?

I have the oil pressure hooked up and the feed line but have no idea what to use for the E or what to do with the two coolant lines that i disconnected from the stock filter housing.

Anyone?

would it mess anything up to connect them together so they complete a cycle? ill have to take another look at it.

the stock oil/water cooler is only good for two things:

1) heating the oil more quickly to get the car to operating temp
2) mixing oil & coolant

The fact of the matter is, unless you're road racing, a cooler isn't really necessary. Aside from that, unless you go with a 1990 setup, or you run an n/t or forward facing housing with a full custom setup, you're wasting your time.

I will never run another oil/water cooler on any of my cars, even if that means running with no oil cooler. Utterly worthless FTL.

So another question only cause this is the last thing I am working on to get my car done. What do I do with the plug on the side of the bracket? pictures above. Is that a coolant line or another oil. and if an oil where and what? Can I just get rid of the other lines for the coolant mix to the stock bracket?
