First off im not sure where to put this, so if this is the inappropriate section i apologize.

Anyway im looking at buying a forced performance T4Z88HTA turbo from a guy on another board, and would like to know how many people have had good or bad experiences with these turbos or forced performance in general. Ive been looking into it a bit and seemed to have found a lot of good reviews but on the other hand some bad.

Forced performance is one of the top notch turbo dealers period. I have an FP 18g on the car at the moment. Their customer service is awesome and the products they make are top of the line quality. If you are looking at a used turbo, the usual questions apply such as Does it have Shaft Play?? How did they oil it? How many miles and how much boost did they run? Do your homework on used turbos, but FP is a great vendor for dsms.

I've had no issues with FP's products. They're expensive but you get what you pay for IMO.

You're looking at a serious turbo though, capable of 600+whp and 9 second passes on a well prepped car. Better make sure the rest of your setup can handle it if you plan to run high boost.

FYI from personal experience, I bought an evo 3 16G from someone who said it was brand new from FP. Indeed, it looked brand new and it was from FP but upon closer inspection it had bent fins and spun slightly crooked. I called FP to see what they could tell me about the turbo and apparently this d-bag did buy the turbo new from them, bolted it up, ran it on the car for a while, the fins started hitting the compressor, so he sent the turbo back to FP and told them the turbo was bad. They inspected the turbo and determined that the issues were caused by oil contaminants and therefore was not covered under warranty. FP also went on to advise me from buying used turbos because you don't know where they have been or what they have really gone through. He asked me, "You wouldn't buy a used baby diaper would you?" I said, "No." He said, "well same thing with a turbo. you are better off to buy new."

Now I am not saying I wouldn't buy a used turbo again, because I have, but know who you are buying from and verify their reputation.
