At what rpm do you start to feel the 50 trim pull? I was thinking of getting one in the future. Just doesnt sound like much fun for the street if you cant feel anything until around 4000 rpm. Hopefully im wrong.

how would you reduce the lag?
Let's say 2.5" o2 housing and what else?

I guess that's why cams are the biggest upgrade with a 50 trim

guys im interested in same ? at what rpm's do yiou start feeling boost build up ? I know full boost is at 3800 give or take a few, but when does it start spoolup? I am gonna be running 14-16 psi daily so full spool should come under 3800.!

Divecex - how much boost are you running with that ?

I'd also like to know the answer to this question, all I ever hear about is when it reaches full boost.

When does it start to build boost?
How much boost @ 2500 rpm?
How much boost @ 3000 rpm?
How much boost @ 3500 rpm?

I've been keeping the boost low for normal use, especially since I am FWD impared. So typically around 14-15 lbs, and if I'm trying to have some fun about 20 with a push of a button. I know I have yet to realize the potential of this turbo, just trying to be reasonable right now. As for when boost builds, in my case it seems to start building around 3k, but when it comes on it comes on quick. :thumb:

An o2 eliminator downpipe would decrease the spool time some...

^^^^^^^^ please explain.......

ex. I have a 2.5 tubular o2 housing (rerouted) and plan on going with a 3" dp with cat eliminate to match up to my apexi n1 catback. In regards to dp what would you guys recomeend about straight pipe , or high flow cat ? I'm looking to spoolup asap. Also i have an automatic, so very quick shifting and probably faster spoolup than 5sp.

If you already have a tubular one then it wouldnt make that much of a difference. The 02 eliminator is way less restrictive than the cast one so unless you get a full 3" o2 eliminator pipe from the turbo back, your probably fine. Places like RnR sell them. If they dont have one for your needs, they can custom make one as well. Just call them..

Help!!!!! Im lost .....

I know the o2 elimin. is less restrictive then cast, but that doesnt apply in my situation. But, in regards to th o2 elimin. is that better or worse than my setup - 2.5 tubular o2 and 3 " dp no cat to 3" catback. You steated above that a o2 elim. dp would decrease spoolup time....
you mean it will spool faster. I'm lost are you trying to say that the o2 elimin. dp will spoolup faster than my setup and i shoul've gotten that instead of the tubular o2 ?

Now you lost me,
I have a 2.5 inchtubular victory performance o2 housing and 3 inch catback exhuast, i'm trying to figure out whats the best downpipe to get for faster spoolup
IE. cat eliminator dp
or
dp with 3 inch highflow cat.

I got the 2.5" tubular o2 ( should have probably got a 3" o2 housing , oh well ) and got the 3 inch Apexi N1 catback asssuming this was the best combo for faster spoolup. what else in regards to downpipe options above would aid in spooling my 50 trim faster ???

you guys ever checked out dejontool and how fast they say the 50 trim hits full boost? any way, they say it hits it at 2800rpm! i was like what they are lying. they are lying right? i emailed them and they said as long as you dont choke your turbo. im about to have a fwd and plan on getting this turbo because of the lag, hopefully better traction.

I wrote that before I realized you had the ss 2.5" o2. Hence why I added that you could only benefit from a 3" o2.. 3" from the turbo back instead of bottlenecking from a 2.5" to a 3".

And yes, the less backpressure you have the easier it is for your turbo to spool. So a 3" turbo back setup would spool a little faster than a 2.5" - 3" setup. I dunno if they are sold or custom made though. You would have to call or ask someone else on that one..

yeah , think they make 3' tubular o2's , but i just got this so i'll keep it.
when i decide to change me setup what do you recomend 3' turbo back or 3' o2 elimin back.
^^ sounds the same though ? i dunno
basically i should have went 3' turbo back , regardless if its tubalar or o2 elimin. as long as its 3' turbo back ? right

Let me tell you one thing..... people that complain about lag has never had a big turbo before.

Right now my 50trim is spooling at 5k due to pre-turbo exhaust leak + untuned, and normal driving is GREAT.

The thing about big turbo is that you can be boosting 7psi and the car would pull like a t25 going at 16psi. And full boost on the 50trim wouldn't really be suitable for around town driving anyways, at just 14psi right now on stock clutch untuned my car pulls like a raped ape. The extreme lag i'm having right now is actually giving me no wheel spin AT ALL in 1st or 2nd.

Now I regret not having gone wtih the 60 trim or 60-1. 5K full boost for me right now is actually good, once the car is finally setup right, full boost hitting at 3800-4000 might actually be bad (wheel spin).

And to truely answer your question, it starts building boost insanely quick. Weird thing is even at 0psi I hear the turbo spooling up, and the bov would flutter when I let off. Before I had my injectors in I never went past 3psi, and the car felt much faster for normal driving.

When does it start to build boost?
How much boost @ 2500 rpm? 6-10psi depending what gear
How much boost @ 3000 rpm? 10-14psi depending on what gear
How much boost @ 3500 rpm?
14-18psi depending what gear

Best thing to do is find someone around you that has a bigger than 16g/t28 turbo and get a ride. If you like it then you will love the 50trim, lag is overrated.

Being spoiled by the 14b and the T25 is why most are upset with the spool of the bigger turbos.

Thanks, I just looked at your mods and have a couple of questions. How much do you think your ported head and cams contribute to your spool? That spool looks good, not as much boost as my 16g at lower rpms, but the 50 trim should flow more at those boost numbers than my 16g does @ 20psi. Also, what about lag? Do you get instat boost when hitting the throttle, or is there some lag? If so about how much?
