fn noise from the timing belt cover

my car has become the spokesperson for crazy crap as of late and the latest act is driving me nuts. when the car is idling thru about 2500 rpm, there is a God awful noise from the timing belt cover like the belt is rubbing on the plastic and something is rolling around in the plastic or something, but as soon as you are above this mark it all stops...the only thing I can think of is that that particular motor mount might be fastened too tight and pulles up on that side of the engine, causing the belt to rub the plastic...if I can lower the motor on that motor mount I think that all will be well...any thoughts???

Or the belt could be loose and near the end of its life which causes cover slap when the tensioner is fully extended and the belt is still loose. If this is the case, the next step is pulling the head and replacing valves if the belt issue is not addressed.

yeah...so after letting it sit over night, I went outside to look at it this afternoon and pulled the little cover off of it to see that the belt was just chillin about one inch above the cam shafts...nice I thought to myself...so tomorrow I get to take a gander at what happened and just hope it's the belt and not the failure of the tensioner, the belt is only 26-30k miles old...it shouldn't have just broke or worn thin I wouldn't imagine...
