I was just curious of the downsides and upsides (If any) of having an FMIC with the stock turbo???? THanks :dsm:

Plus, it's not needed. The side mount is good enough for quite a while.

given a fmic looks good. Your sidemount will carry you into the 12's before you absoulutly have to have it. Why not spend that cash on some go fast parts that will help you right now!

just my opinon though:D

Werd. Get a nice grill or somethin to fill up the bumper.

I purchased a hahn fmic and my evo3 16g at the same time, havent got around to installin the 16g yet cause but currently runnin the fmic with the t25 and there is absolutely pros or cons, runs just like it did with the stock smic, hopefully ill feel somethin when i put the 16g on, i probably wouldnt spend all the money on a fmic if u dont plan on ever upgrading turbos but if u plan on upgradin there arent any bad things that happen, definitely looks dope tho  good luck on whatever u do tho :thumb:

Yea you will probably see way more gains with upper ic piping than with a fmic at this point, check out www.dejontool.com for the upper ic piping as they have the best imo, and for the lower ic piping most fmic kits come with lower ic piping so u would just be wasting ur money but its cheap so do whatever u want there, as for runnin a larger turbo on ur stock sidemount if u plan on going with nething larger than a 16g or wanna push the 16g to its limit i would ditch the stock smic due to it heatsoaking quickly, if you dont wanna spend the money on a nice fmic upgraded smic or the stock supra smic are always options, good luck :thumb:

actually if you get a smaller FMIC it will be much better than your stock crap...
and you will benefit from the better piping. so just get a small FMIC for about 600 or so or less from my buddy DJ... send him a e-mail @ [email protected], he can give you exact prices and can ship anywhere for ya... (im getting one from him and am expecting to run low 12's on my stock turbo with that fmic... check my mod list :p

600$ is for the I/C and piping custom fit to your car with all the couplers and clamsp and t-bolts and EVERYTHING, if you want he can set it up for GM-MAF and then make you a intake pipe too, its a GOOD deal I suggest more ppl take him up on this. I am and I know about 5 ppl that have gotten them and they all love them, very pretty, and good quality, and also cheap because u ain't paying for the name...

his buddy actually makes the I/C and he has a 9 sec Z that uses the same I/C

Also so if I ever decide to get a big turbo my SMIC would work fine?

I replaced the stock plastic junk with hard piping....I suggest definatly replacing the upper ic pipe and new bov. When I was stock, Just this combo alone made the most feelable diffrence in horsepower I have felt yet(except for the turbo upgrade). And you will still have cash left over to do something else....That is if you have the cash for a front mount!

the way i see it is the lag from the fmic is worth the cooler air, plus the fmic will be VERY useful later when it comes time to get a bigger turbo and crank the boost

a tad cooler air isnt worth the loss in CFMs.. ya get more HP from more flow than you will cooler air.
but ya.. if the plan is gettin a larger turbo it wont be wasted.

Alright, Im gonna save my cash and get a Evo 16g turbo. My other question......Will the SMIC be suitable for the Evo 16g???? or should I save enough to buy the FMIC and the turbo???

it will be unless you live somewhere that is SUPER hot and want to run over 15-16lbs of boost...

if you get an evo3 16g.. atleast get like an upgraded sidemount or a small frontmount if you live in a warmer climate. you could run higher boost... but you would see better gains running a fmic. or if you have plans to go with something bigger later on.. id suggest just getting the greddy fmic kit. its cheap and really nice.(think its about $850 for the kit versus about $6-700+ for an upgraded side or small fmic with piping)

i know a guy running the greddy 24r fmic on his 1g w/ an evo3 16g and that thing is pretty quick. i think it would be a little faster with a smaller fmic though.
