fmic, is this supposed to be there?

so i was driving the gsx the other night, and when i shifted my bov made a real loud noise and then i had to pull over because my car woulden't go. i open the hood and notice a hose blew off my ic and was wondering if there should even be a hose there or if it is supposed to be a pipe. i have this picture

Looks like someone used a hard pipe and used the stock IC piping for the rest.

That appears to be one of the factory intake hoses. You really should replace that with some piping and silicone couplers.

looks like someone did a bad job for a ic go on ebay and get there ic pipe kits that might help alot then you can redo it the right way.

That doesnt look good at all, I would def hardpipe it. And it is weird going under the cross member. A full kit would be a good idea so you dont have to mix and match peices.

Lol wow? Someone jacked your stock intake pipe and used it for a FMIC kit. That's pretty lame, you should find whoever did this and beat them over the head with it.

yea you might want to do something about that. i had it pop off at least 5 times and then switched to a hard pipe and i pancaked that one

To me it looks like like they did the typical 'free' diy u-pipe that t25/28s need to hook up a FMIC. That setup is known to be very inefficient and like ppl say, get the hard pipe. If you dont have a t25/28, well then idk why they would use the soft one to begin with.

Washers get crushed like that when you jack up the car with a small jack like a 2 ton jack....he probally has a small head on it put the jack in the middle and it forced the 2 washers to crush up like that. I use wood planks to even out the weight of the jack and makes sure it doesnt bend mine like that. Also that pipe should go above....you might be able to use it, just need to cut it shorter maybe...but you should just get new piping...

I'm going to go on a limb and guess that your car has the ssac FMIC on it with the stock T25, correct?

The way that IC pipe is routed was found by one of the members on here to work for that setup, he too mentioned that it would have to be routed underneath the front cross member though. Get that fixed asap, that can't be good and you'll have alot of problems if you ever hit a big enough bump. Good luck.

You guys are shocked, but a lot of people do this ghetto tactic to meet with the piping for their SSAC fmic when running a t25/t28. I always hated this. I bought a bigger turbo just so I would not have to do this. jk on that last part

The stock pipes can handle 20-30psi, and will not blow off if there is a decent clamp and a lip on the pipe. The lip on the pipe makes significantly more difficult to mechanically pop off. It will be a lot cleaner and safer if you replace it with hard piping that doesn't go under the cross member, but you can just put a lip on the pipe and replace that piece with a clamp if you need it up and running for a while.
