Is there supposed to be a battery tie down?

I had to swap the battery in my car today cuz the old one died and I realized, there is no battery tie down on my car. Is there not supposed to be some sort of tray the battery sits in with a big long bolt to tighten it down or something? Cuz my battery is kinda just sitting there. I'm sure sliding around is not good for it.

Oh, well does anyone have a spare one they don't need, or know of a place that sells one? I guess I need one :D

Yea you need one to pass state inspection

The state inspection here in TN is a joke. They check to make sure there's a cat on your car, if your check engine light is on, and if you have fuel pressure int he gas tank, that's it. They don't pop the hood, hook anything up to the exhaust pipe, or make you get out or anything. 2 minutes tops.

thats nothing here in mississippi as long as your lights work and you windsheld
is only a lil cracked you pass like 30sec tops
some times they dont even check your lights
they just come outside and look at you car and say ok :thumb:

you can get a generic battery hold-down at any auto parts store - or for a few extra bucks, there are some pretty sweet aftermarket ones out there - check ebay

Actually, that happened to me when I had gotten my car running again (after getting tired of fixing it and letting it sit for a couple months)...I had lost the tie-down and on the freeway grounded out on the hood, confused the F*CK out of me for a while LOL, kinda funny, but now that I think of it I'm kinda lucky the whole car didn't go up in flames :barf:
