So I was changing my oil pan gasket today and when i pulled the pan out, I found this: WTF

<a href="http://s70.photobucket.com/albums/i86/jsanchez430/?action=view&current=IMG_1754.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i70.photobucket.com/albums/i86/jsanchez430/IMG_1754.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>

I should have put a penny next to the pieces for size reference, but the circular ring is a tiny bit smaller than a penny. Keep in mind that I have a 96 GSX. I have decent experience with these cars, but I have never seen these pieces. Please help

Balance Shaft pieces! ;D

Nah, likely ... hell, i dunno. The one with the geared teeth looks like the clip beside the rear Silent shaft near your timing belt... how the hell THAT would come off and get into your oil pan? No idea.

they almost also look like retainer clips for the pin that goes inside the pistons...but our cars piston pins are pressed fit and I think you'd know if you lost one of those haha.

Did you heart stop when you saw that in your oil pan? I know mine would.

Old thread, I know....but might as well clear this up for anyone searching.

The parts are all from a T25 that was once on the car. The upper pieces are all that remains of an exploded thrust plate. The lower left clip is an inner journal bearing retainer, the lower right is the turbine-side journal bearing retainer.

Nothing to worry about for sure.

No. I think tuners should make a new mod status just for him called turbo guru
I'm down. LOL

I think it would be cool if the Wisemen had categories- some are good with tuning, some are good with electronics, some are good with engine building- I just happen to be well-versed in forced induction.
He probably couldn't tell you the exact type and weight of oil you are running on it without seeing the bottle.
No, but back in my Motocross days I used to be able to tell what brand / type of two-cycle oil a rider was using by the smell of the exhaust. :D

mmm. Wasn't it Benol that had that very distinct smell. Use to like that smell when I raced Motocross

Didn't matter- I could pick it out no matter what it was.

Klotz Benol and Maxima Castor 927 smelled similar because they were both castor-based oils...which is the reason I'd steer clear of each in my bikes with Power Valves because of how dirty the castor oils burned. I carried a Klotz sponsorship from the time I was on my CR80, and I believe I used Benol in the CR80 because it didn't have a power valve, but once I jumped to 125's my rep recommended swiching to R50. I've used R50 since around 1995, back when it came in the white bottle with a brown label and yellow writing. LOL

I could pick out pretty much any oil based on the smell of the exhaust....Bel-Ray MC1, H1R, Honda HP2, Spectro SX, Yamalube 2R, and so on. Race fuel would mask it depending on what fuel you were using. I've been away so long that I doubt I could do it anymore, not to mention 2-strokes are a thing of the past.

Now that we've successfully taken this thread in a completely different direction....LOL

not sure if you were still wondering what that was, but it is definitely from the turbo, I rebuilt mine recently and found those same pieces. The bronze piece is from the thrust collar, and the others are snap rings. if you are not running the stock turbo any more, don't even worry about it.:thumb:

Anyways. I like this thread, because I found a bunch of the same crap in my oil pan in the last GST... And I allways wondered what it was.

Car never had any issues that where not related to the trans. So I never worried.
