FMIC Intercooler piping...

Well I made the mistake of buying a FMIC that did not come with its own I/C piping. So now I have a 25x8x3 FMIC with no piping. I found this Greddy kit on eBay and its not too expensive(ClickHere). Does anybody have this? Do you think this Greddy kit will work, with a little cutting for fitment? It says it has the flange for the BOV already welded on, but which BOV? I am going to email him and ask, but I want to use a 1g BOV.

I also looked into the Dave Brodie(sp?) kit and it seemed a bit too steep. I know I could custom build a kit out of mandrel bends but I do not have access to a good welder.

Any tips are appreciated. Thanks.

You don't need a welder to custom fab. some piping. Just get some piping, a hacksaw, couplers and clamps, and go to town.

What about the BOV flange, that has to be welded on correct? If thats the only thing I woul dhave to have welded on, I probably could make my own pretty easily. I think I will look into that more vs. spending $200 on that Greddy kit. Thanks!

Well I saw a Dave Brode kit on the gvr4 site and it was $300+? Idk, maybe I am not remembering correctly. Ill look it up again.

O and I just realised that the Greddy kit is setup for a Greddy FMIC where both inlet/outlets on the FMIC are on the same side, where as mine are not :thumbdown

You really do need a welder to build your own pipes, otherwise everywhere there is a clamp there is the possibility of a boost leak. Neways if you do decide to do the clamp and coupler method you have to buy the T clamps that allow you to tighten the shit outta them, standard clamps will blow off under boost (I know this from experiance, I made my own pipes and decided that a bead on the end of the pipe wasn't necessary so I just tightened the crap out of the regular clamps and what do ya know but first time I hit boost and the pipe blew right off.) If you can get access to any kind of welder or divise some sort of system to hold the bends together in the shape you need them and then take them to a welding shop/muffler shop and have them finish the welds off. When I did mine and I couldn't get into a spot to tack the pipes in place I would just put a black mark perpendicular to the cut of the pipe so that I could take them down and line them up on a bench and finish the weld.

Well I think I am just going to break down and buy the Dave Brode kit for the gvr4. It is $340 + shipping. ouch

But I am still open to any ideas. I think building my own without a welder will not be the greatest idea as I do not want to be worring about boost leaks and if my couplers will hold uner boost. But anyway, here is the Dave Brode fmic kit for the gvr4:
