So I just popped my factory 100k plus mile partly separated? Pulley off, popped my fluidamper pulley on.

First fire up I notice less engine noise.. That's weird, probably good.

First Drive I notice my lug spot is less noticeable by 50% at least. What I mean is when you hit lug rpm in my car (it was bad) like if you stay in 3rd and slow down too much it would hit it and if you accelerated from a low 3rd gear rpm to go faster it would fall on its face and lug.

It's almost not even noticeable now?!? I'm really sure my car was harmonically messed up and it just changed the feel of driving my car.

My balance shafts are still in but have been disabled. I also noticed smoother shifting and I understand that the balance shaft delete can cause more clutch vibration.. I think it is possible that my pulley had some separation going on it wasn't doing much good for my engine or clutch or anything.

My car feels like a smoother different car this is weird. Not lugging is weird. Was my factory harmonic balancer a lot worse off than I realized?

Having your balance shafts not hooked up, or one working and the other not working will give more vibration than having them deleted. I know that from experience. Due harmonic imbalance, your new damper could be absorbing that bad imbalance, but the imbalance would still be present.

If you have simply removed the belt for the front shaft but not put in a stubby for the rear, it is my inderstanding that you'll have crazy vibes. The rear shaft is driven off the oil pump, so unless you have removed it you would be getting those vibes.

That is true, and the experience I had since my balance shaft belt broke at one point and drove for 2 days like that before I could replace it.

I made a back to back video of fluidampr and new mits damper. the fluidampr smoothed engine pitch and free revved much quicker. cant say I noticed anything driving the car. but wouldnt surprise me if your old damper was broken and causing some vibration instead of eliminating it.

That's what I'm thinking.. As for exactly what's up with my balance shafts I wish I could say for certain.. The shop I had do it I'm trying not to bash them too hard but I wasn't happy with any of the work. They don't even really remember my car so I can't even ask them what they did to it and expect a reliable response. I will get into it eventually and figure it all out.

In the mean time I'm happy to report somehow my shifting is a ton smoother, 3rd was causing me a headache and if I didn't double clutch a grind.. It's dropping in with much less fuss multiple gears. I read some reviews on clutch vibration causing more wear on clutch and trans.. Even cracking in clutch plates from high rpm harmonic forces wrecking the balance of the clutch with vibration. Some people are in the camp that these engines are balanced enough internally that they don't need a damper, but I've also read reviews about bearing wear and clutch issues from lack of proper harmonic damping. I watched a video of a guy that was getting 10 passes on the track and pulling his bearings finding wear from using a solid aluminum under drive main pulley. After he switched to a harmonic damper pulley after ten passes no bearing wear..

The feeling of my car is drastically more calm, less vibration. If you are thinking about running one of these pulleys I wouldn't hesitate to recommend you do. The smoother driving around.. I wasn't expecting much of a difference but it is noticeably nice.

I'm all for bullet proofing my 4g63 so as far as that goes I will add the fluidamper to build plans for the platform. I know a couple of guys with dsm's and I'll let them ride in mine to make a decision.
