Okay I was down pittsburgh for light up night last night and as I was getting ready to leave from a stop sign, I noticed my PS pump was making the typical low fluid sound. So I drove it straight home. When I got home I opened the hood to see power steering fluid pushing out from under the resevoir cap. By the time I got home my PS was just about gone and it was making all kind of noise and had next to no fluid in it. I assumed it was the pump that went bad somehow so I swapped it out with another one. I do not know what to do...nor what it could be. Could it be a bad rack? the car has about a 115k miles and Ive had no PS problems at all till this point. If the pump died wouldn't it supply no pressure at all? instead of so much pressure that it forces the fluid out from the cap?

btw this is on a 95 TSI talon

All that has been in it is ATF. Never DOT fluid dear lord no LOL. Its been fine up untill now...this is a crazy issue. I even bled the system by going stop to stop for 15 seconds at each checked fluid level an repeated untill fluid was full after going from stop to stop. And still does the same thing. Im slightly frustrated...

i had the same identical problem in my 95 eclipse gst. i thought it was the pump so i swapped the pump with the one from my talon but it didnt fix anything.
it sounds like the exact same thing as mine.... this is what i did to fix it... and it was easy LOL.
all u need to do it buy another bottle or PROPER ps fluid.
there are air bubbles in the lines.\
everytime i put fluid in it the fluid would just keep going in and in even though on the dipstick it said it was full.
this is what i did to fix it. worked the first time.
start your car.... stop it. put some fluid in it, run it for 2 SECONDS! turn it off and let it sit for about 20 mins. than do this again and again and u can actually put quite alot of fluid in at one. the key is to start it for a really short period of time and than let it sit. it has to work out the air in the lines.
i dont know but what u have sounds EXCACTLY the same as what i had, i swapped pumps and nothing changed. try this... it should work.

Try doing this again, but this time hold the engine at around 3000 RPMs. Should work much better.
