Flushing out power steering resivoir and pump

I just realized that I did a helluva n00bish thing. Instead of using Dextron II in the power steering resivoir, I've been using (what else) power steering fluid. How do I flush the old stuff out? And if it's too late and the pump is done for, once I replace it, how do I bleed it?

What Dextron II thing, now you're making feel like a n00b. I've just replaced my pump and I put in ps fluids, curious as to what you mean.

I've always ran just regular power steering fluid, works fine. Go figure, power steering fluid works in power steering pumps.

I was looking at the chilton's (and on the resivoir cap) and it said dextron II. Maybe it's just a coincidence that now my pump has died on me, but I was thinking that it was because I was using the wrong stuff.

ok man the power steering thing is bogus mopar used dextron 2 as stock fluid now if you want to stay stock go with that, but regular p/s fluid will work fine not better just fine. to bleed it open cap start car and slowly turn steering wheel from lock to lock. about 5-6 times and you should be good. the loc. of the bleeder screw will be in your service manual if you have or haynes and chiltons if you have those if not i can't hel you as i have a 95

My question is this- my ps resevior is low on fluid. The previous owner always used regular ps fluid. Can the Dextron III and regular ps fluid be mixed, or should I drain it first?
