So I've had my DSM for about 4 months now. It's a 1992 Eclipse GS FWD with only 54,000 miles on it. I'm going to do the turbo conversion within the next year or two. I just had a quick question, as spring/summer approaches I'm going to start modding. I had a question about an intake, if I currently have a n/t right now but am going to eventually switch to a turbo which intake should I get? Is there one that will work good with both or are they completely different? I'd like to be able to keep it when i do the turbo conversion if possible.

No matter which way you look at it, the N/T intake and piping are completely different from the Turbo setup. Are you talking about slapping a turbo on your 420A, or are you doing a 4G63 swap? Both are, again, completely different. Make sure you do a lot of research before you make any kind of decision. If it were me personally, I would sell the N/T when the time came, and buy an already turbo DSM. Swaps are too much of a pain in the ass in my opinion. Not to mention a lot more money and work involved. If you were to compare the two options cost wise, you'll save yourself a lot more money in the long run by starting with a turbo DSM. Just my opinion. Good luck to whatever you do. Make sure to ask lots of questions.

I'm eventually going to do a complete engine rebuild, I'm just getting into DSMs I've already been reading a lot. I'm going to put about a years research into exactly what I want to do, then go out and do it. Money is not a concern, I like the challenge. But thanks for the quick response, I think I might just get a k&n filter and do the air can hack for now and just save up for the bigger project. Do you know of any specific sites that have a complete run-down on the 4G63?

I would wait until you actually perform the conversion until you start buying supporting mods. That way you know what you want, and you will only buy the piece one, and right the first time.

It would be easier to just buy a turbo'd dsm, but hey if your up for the challenge why not. Good luck with the project, let us know what happens.
