Alright, I finally enough balls to tear into my Talon, I did some cutting here, some cutting there, nothing too serious. I have a K&N drop in, I cleaned it (drying right now) and modified my stock airbox. I also am finishing up the BOV dump tube mod. I will get some pics when it's all done :)

as much as i dont consider the k&n air filter a mod as much as a maintenence item, those others i do, post pics as soon as possible :thumb:

did you take out the bcs restrictor too? its retarded easy to do.. takes 5 minutes, and some say that it makes a power difference.. though i didnt really notice one. i was running 11psi after taking it out, and probably 10 1/2 before heh

please enlighten me to this BCS restrictor idea :) here is what i did, i flipped my stock air box upside down and then cut the top off with a hacksaw so it is open to the air while keeping the latches on it so it keeps the filter held down. i also sanded around the edges with my dremel just to clean it up a lil bit. just test drove the car and with that done and the dump tube mod my blow off valve seems alot swooooshier instead of a chirp, and i really can feel more top end power, i think this has been a few hours well spent.. what next? maybe the BCS restrictor? enlighten me :D

bcs restrictor mod-

pull out your coolant overflow tank and look down in there under your intake pipe, there is a black plastic solenoid attached to the body that has two hoses running off of it, one connects to the turbo and the other i cant remember where it goes exactly, just follow the turbo line and you will see it. anyway, carefully disconnect the lines and unbolt the thing from the car so you can pull it forward. looki into the nipples (hehe), one of them is smaller than the other because a little plastic restrictor is pressed into it. get a small screw and thread it into the plastic peice until it catches and carefully pull that bastard out of there. put everything back together and you should see a bit more boost. this is the stock equivilent of turning up the boost on an mbc a little bit. i didnt notice much difference from it, but some people have and you might so theres no reason not to do it considering how easy it is :thumb:

the BCS (boost control solenoid) is under the turbo inlet pipe (accordian tube).
Follow the vacuum hose from the wastegate actuator up to it.
Yep..thats it. Little black thing with two vacuum hoses. Take a 10mm socket and a 1/4" rachet with 4" extension and take it completely off. On the top nipple (I think) there is a reducer. Use a small screw and gently screw it in the restrictor...pull gently outward. Do not move it up and down...just outward.

Once you get it out....put it all back together. If you had a BOV that was worth a crap...and a real boost gauge...you'd see another 2-3 psi of boost...and feel a little more kick in the pants when the boost hits.

Good luck and let us know if the mod is successful.

just finished the BCS restrictor removal.. and wow... i took it for a drive down the street... I LOVE IT!! LOL :) seems like there is a pretty big difference.. i actually used a pretty big screw and now the hole with the restrictor is bigger than the other one even LOL! :) :talon:

its good to see willing dsmers...just dont let any obstacles overcome you down the road, PLEASE!

today a friend and i cut down my shifter quite abit, and after i got home i disabled my clutch switch so i can start my talon without having to push in the clutch, reducing the chance of crankwalk once i really start to tear into this thing. i also took out my huge 90lbs or so sub box, and put in just one kenwood 12 that weighs only 10lbs or so. seems like i'm finding something new to do every day! :talon:

Now that you did the boost trick try the maf sensor one by turning the screw out and removing the side combs but make sure you leave the center one untouched.

right now i am working on a custom fiberglass sub box, my progress is posted in the appearance/non-performance forum if you want to take a look! :) :talon: sad thing is.. i really want a 1gb talon instead of my 2g LOL
