knock is caused by hot air and poor fuel. 8* sounds about right since you only want to run 15-18* max. Any more that that won't really bring much difference in power.
A fmic, cold air intake, and meth injection will help you

I might be misunderstanding. He is getting 8* peak timing?
re-rx7, we really could give more advise if you provided a log, but my first instinct is that you need lower temperatures. That side mount intercooler is probably getting heat soaked, your coolant temps may be too high, plugs too hot, etc. -Another thing, running that low timing is going to put a lot of heat into the exhaust manifold which will heat up your underhood temps and compound the problem further.
I don't mean this in an insulting way at all, but how long has it been since you've done a BLT? Got any exhaust leaks? This all really sounds like there's a mechanical problem involved.
Well I am about to give up on ecu flashing.
I can not get a working datalogger EVOScan will not work at all, Mut Monitor I can not save a log any more and the link to try to re-download it is not good anymore. I also can not get big maps to work. This has been a big waste of my time and money.
Is EvoScan not even connecting for you? What version of windows do you have? How many times have you dowloaded it? Delete everything and start over. There's no reason it shouldn't work.
No it jst freezes up. Windows7. I have downloaded 2.7 2.8 2.9 dozens of times each. Deleting everything and starting over each time.
I got 2.9 to work the first time I tried it I did not trust it becaust I had duplicate ECU's when I incerted ceddys 2.7+ xml, this caused me to have duplicate logged items like tps IAC ect. Then it went to crap. Also I was able to check and clear DTC's on all three at first but now they all give me an "arithmetic operation resulted in an overflow" error .
What port do you select. I think DTC port was different than logging port. Try different ports. As far as I remember one required MUT, other was OBDII or somethink like that
I'd hate to suggest something of no help, but Win7 does some funky shit with user profiles, etc. Are you installing to a custom directory when you install evoscan?
I'm running an XP laptop and everything works for me. I used to use OBD2 but it didn't work so well so I tried MUTIII and it worked much better and much more data.
Have you tried flashing your ECU? I tried to download the rom off of 98 GST Spyder and it wouldn't read it ### it doesn't have definitiions for a GST Spyder. How are you getting yours to work? Just overwrite the ROM with ceddymods?
.Oh so the GST and GST spyder have the same fuel system then? Its only the GS Spyder has that funky 5V fuel pump dealie?
An interesting note I used the compare command on ECUflash to compare the stock spyder GST ROM to a 98 GST rom and about half of it cam up YES its the same and the other half NO.
So just to be clear if we overwrite the spyder GST ROM with Ceddymods it'll be ok?
In w7 theres an option to run programs using older versions of windows. Look under properties, I believe it is there. I had to run evoscan like that.
