Damn, man! Looking good. You've been putting in the work, big time, and it shows. 🤘

oem exhaust heat shield no holes yet, one small blemish in it before any sandblasting
cleaned the windows up
oem exhaust manifold heat shield installed
then it was time to fill it with oil, of course it started a leak at the turbo drain, brand new gasket, will add rtv and try again,
even worse news, i didnt tighten the flex plate bolts down all the way on initial install of them, so when i went to go tighten them all up, one is stuck between the trans and the motor. hopefully i can get this out without unmating the trans andd motor big bummer

Damn this is way too good for a first build!

I would recommend changing out that turbo drain hose though. I'm not sure what it's rated for but it doesn't look built to handle the heat of being so close to the downpipe and has a pretty gnarly looking bend at the bottom. At a minimum give it some heat wrap. I did something similar 15 years ago cutting the flex section out of a 1G drain and replacing it with Aeroquip AQP style hose (no outer braid) and some constant tension clamps covered by DEI heat sleaving and it still looks as good as new to this day.

Also be careful with that flex section. The sticker on it looks like the brand they sell at Autozone and a hot turbo set up will eat up a low quality flex section in short time from the inside out and cause a blow out or some nasty restriction. I've been using the interlock style ones forever and they hold up amazingly well.

i got the flex plate bolt figured out and tightened up, for some reason the car doesn’t want to engage gears anymore, shifter connected or not, theres no valve body in the pan yet. hopefully it’s something dumb and simple. got the turbo drain leak figured out to im pretty positive.

anyone know about auto trans?
theres no valve body in it right now, nor is there any fluid in it,
it stopped wanting to roll backwards it would roll forwards but not as easy as it should, i poppeed out the cv shaft and now i can move it back forwards however i want it move’s great now, the transmission is going to act like its in neutral in every gear, and it wont engage drive or reverse til it has fluid and a valve body correct?

Love the way it's looking, I'm in the mid of rebuilding my first ever engine. I got a 99 Gs eclipse I picked up for 300 bucks, had a loss of compression. The piston was exploded in the block and the crankshaft scarred in multiple spots. What brand paint are you using?
How is that build coming?

well with my no reverse problem, the trans has to come back out what a headache. its not a hard job or really that time consuming, its just the fact that like damn bruh i just put you in there 🙃
i must have missed something or somethings misaligned, lets get it out and crack it open and see if we cant figure out what i did. hopefully its in and out by the weekend i really want to start it 🤟🏼

Not sure if you ever addressed it or not but I highly suggest taking that nasty bend out of the turbo drain line at the bottom.

It returns through gravity not pressure fwiw.

Good luck with the trans.

yeah its all i had atm, i gotta make a parts store run

finally got the exhaust situated 🤟🏼
got my banner on 🤟🏼
i was missing an air filter the bracket and a mass so for $30 i picked up this injen bracket and filter to match my injen fuze cover, im going to get the spark plug cover here soon. 🤟🏼
then sent the trans to the shop so they can tell me if its good to go.

when i bought this i was told it was an old 90’s build and then sat in a garage for 12 years, obviously you cant believe much of what anyone says really, but a couple things got me believing it, this is the radio that came with the car, this is the song that was playing when we first got it to turn on. notice its even a cd 😂
also when we open up the glove box for the first time there was a ps2 all wired in.
under the car i noticed c clips for actual round led bars for underglow.
just alittle throwback

Damn, that's awesome. It's a time capsule and you can't beat that!

Won't be long now, you'll be cruising around bumping some X to tha Z!!!

trans shop called, said everything in the first picture was fried. to bad i didnt dig this far into it myself.
with 5 transmissions laying around you forget which ones which. the red one was my talon, we had the trans cooler drop out on it while we were driving it, it lost all gears in less then a mile. thats the trans that i ended up using for my build and i didnt know til they called and said it was fried. so i will end up paying the trans shop to fix it up for me. now we play the waiting game 😕

i used to have 3 pages of things i wanted to do to this thing to make it perfect. i can count on both hands how many things i have left. its honestly sad i have nothing to work on til i get my trans back.
i dont have the energy to wet sand and buff this thing again, so ill pay someone once its running and driving.
i have acouple carbon pieces i still want to get.
soon soon soon man soo soon 🙏🏼
