My car runs pretty rock solid at 185-190. My fan turns on if I’m idling for a while somewhere.

-Daniel
yeah im already above that sometimes. i think having the trans cooler and intercooler in front of the radiator with 2 stock fans isnt good enough

well lame but it’ll be over quick, i should have swapped the head before but live and you learn, i want to run the evo set up with my 2g head, so evo intake and exhaust manifold, well the PO had the intake ports on the head that i have ported for a 1g intake, so i cant use the intake on this head.
taking everything apart and putting it back together is all easy peasy waiting for money and parts is the kickers wish i had dsm guys closer.
ordering a new headgasket
ordering a oem timing tension
going to be sending the head to the shop to get checked out and blah blah so ill have to wait for that too.

well already got a head from my guy that had it left over from when he moved platforms into a… Camaro…. going to send this off to the machine shop asap! we’ll be back in business soon boys 🤦🏻‍♂️

lil bummer in the plans this weekend never happened to check the studs once i got the head off, they all came out pretty easy. note tho i didnt have to pay for these as they were already here, no biggie new set on the way!

IMG_5150.jpeg

ordered the wrong studs 😑 waiting on the new ones to get here so i fix one of my mistakes, should have just did this from the start but the an power steering kit is $275 and i wanted to spend that elsewhere so i used stock stuff for now, i couldnt get this stock connection to stop leaking so i havnt had power steering, but with stuff i had laying around only from other projects, only had to order a few fittings less then $100 i got an power steering lines now, just waiting on the last fitting to show up!
cut the nipple off, welded a an fitting on it, cleaned and ready for powder, in the oven, back in business 💪🏼
dont mind the paint mess on the sub frame the power steering leak f***ed it i gotta fix it 😑

i f***ed up and should have had the machine shop drill the head stud holes out like others have mentioned because my luck already sucks, i got the studs in, tried to put the head on and it got stuck, shops drilling out the holes should be done before the weekend trying to catch this nice weather, in the meantime i finished the power steering lines, fingers crossed nothing leaks.

Sliding the head down over the studs is a PITA. I suggest removing the studs from the block, lifting the head onto the block aligned with the dowls on the corners, and then install the studs after.

I also don't install the CAM's until after the head is torqued onto the block.

since heads on could go ahead and do the timing with a brand new oem tensioner.
the drain i had bought seemed like it wouldnt stop leaking just the tiniest of bit, from the angle it sat at i think, even with it being god awful tight, so i just replaced it with AN fittings, seems to be good right now not dripping.

somehow i f***ed up the rack and pinion, so while ones on order i got to, fit up the stainless steel pipes for the intercooler now i just need a way to weld them, and alittle bending. the U pipe almost fit perfectly i gotta see if i can open it up alittle bit, and the pipe to the throttle body fits pretty good too just need to weld it all in.

Id be careful with that oil pan gasket. I ran one and it just kept leaking and leaking and I tried tightening the bolts but nothing ever helped. I just recently pulled the pan off to find out the flange of my oil pan around the bolts was bent due to being overtightened.

I hope yours seals but mine definitely did not.

yeah im pretty sure if the flanges arnt true flat it wont seal, i had a problem with the intake gasket i had gotten from another dsm’er, thats supposed to be superior. i couldnt get it to seal for the life of me in one spot so i had to go back to a stock gasket and rtv and it sealed this was for an intake manifold tho. but same premise, im definitely hoping both mine are good enough to seal id hate to have to deal with all the rtv again.

got the intercooler pipes done 2.5 thru out
i was able to get it down to 5 clamps there was 8 or 9 on the previous pipes lot less stuff to leak and the pipes look good
but ever since i drove the car to the shop to do the pipes now the wideband dumps from 14 to 30 and kills the car out on a “stock” tune. dont know why? also while im driving and im not on the gas the wideband leans out.
