First DSM 1998 GSX

Ladies and Gents,

I have finally purchased a running GSX. Now this is my first DSM vehicle so bear with me. First I would like to know - where do you start with a car that has 177k on it? I am leaking the black crude all over so a good power wash is coming up this weekend. Determined that most of the crude is leaking near the front of the engine by the turbo. Interior needs some work but hey - its a project running.....Tranny has an issue with not going into gear unless you rev the engine up in the gear....check engine light is on but i can't seem to pull the code on the ODBII sensor.... H E L P!!!!! Newbie on this type of vehicle foreal. Pics are coming soon...

When you bought it did they say if they did any maintenance?? If not I would HIGHLY recommend doing timing belt, water pump, oil pump and do a compression test!! As for the black crude, check for any leaks!!

Ok, ill let you in some info before the trolls get a hold of you.

A, welcome to the DSM world.
B, your first issue should be tackling all maintenance. Despite what the previous owner told you, its safest to just re-do everything yourself so you know it was done right.
C, The oil leak could be coming from either your turbo oil feed, or oil return line, as those are the most prone areas that leak up front. Rinse off the car, and take some pics and get back to us
