I used a Sawzall with a Tungston-Carbide blade for the bumper trimming which worked well for me

Yes I was using a metal cutting blade. However with nothing for the pilot drill bit to center on the blade would catch on the raised lip of the support and chatter off line. Using a drill and die grinder it took me about 15 minutes a side.
