just called. checked coil pack and no problems found. looking at fuses right now. probably going to end up taking the car to local mitsu dealer and having their techs figure this thing out. unless any of you know any shops in TN, VA, or NC..

Wow, this build has been going on forever.

I hate to be a devil's advocate from the first page but...This is why I do all of my own work.

I would love some updates, bring it to MD either my friend or I could solve the issue in a matter of hours.

thats not a bad idea actually. and i agree it has been goign on for way way too long. no updates as of yet. they are finishing putting everything back together. but still no start just cranking.

not sure if they checked the starter, ill have to double check with them. my clutch is modular so no flywheel.

UPDATE:

Well long time no talk guys. So good news first, the car is completely back together.....and thats where the good news ends. the car still wont start, the dealership wont look at it, and my only options at this point is to trailer it to either Hahn or MachV (i dont even know if they work on cars) unless someone knows of a shop closer to VA. i want to thank all of you for trying to help me figure this problem out. no one seems to know whats wrong with it and i dont have enough knowledge of engines and electircals to figure it out. im pretty much up shit creek with no paddle right now. as always if anyone thinks of anything we havent tried yet please let me know. otherwise ill let you guys know if it ever starts. i hope to meet some of you at a shootout or show sometime in the future, but it looks pretty bleek at the moment.

thanks guys.

Or bring it to the SO and we'll fix it there :p

Yeah, you're a little too far for a road trip. If you were say Jersey north, I'd check it out. You've put in every effort.

this might be a dumbass question, but could it be bc i have long rods in the block?

No, that wouldn't have anything to do with it. It's got to be something electrical... without a doubt.

What's going on with this shop? I wouldn't pay them a dime. Conversely, if you fly me up there, I'll come fix it... :D

I suggest looking over every wire carefully. I know you or the shop probably have already, but do it again. If you don't find anything, do it again. There's got to be a broken wire or disconnected sensor, etc..

Have you already replaced the crank position sensor?

i think its electrical too, but i just wanted to ask that for S&G. And the shop owner told me i dont own him anything else since he couldnt get it working so thats all taken care of. im going to have them bring the car to my house and check it out. the shop has tried 2 diff crank sensors and neither one fixed it, both were new. even when we took the electricals back to stock the car still wont start.

Could be... I would take out both and set all the wiring back to stock before going any further. You don't need the PortFueler or MSD box to start the car. You can even drive it around without either... those should've been added after the turbo was installed and everything else was dialed in.

Have you tried removing all the aftermarket electronics, and wiring it up as OE? It would be much simpler to diagnose this way.

edit: You're too quick for me, Paul. Too quick.

i completely agree, i dont know why it wasnt done this way to begin with..

Final update: Well its a been a long time and a lot has happened. First the guy that was working on my car went out of business and dropped my car off in my front yard with no warning one day, half built. So after looking for months i found a shop in North Carolina to finisht the build, Driven Tuning and Performance. So they got the electrical problems fixed and was almost completely done with the car, until the shop caught on fire and went up with my car inside. So now i have just a shell, motor, and tranny....The guy didnt have insurence, neither did the landlord for the shop. So all my parts and my car are destroyed, I dont know what to do other then file a civil suit against the guy, and it will be a while before i get another DSM im sure, just bought a new Xterra. I would like to say thanks to all of you who helped me over the years in finding the right parts and all the advice, if any of you have any advice for my current situation i would really appreciate it. otherwise i guess ill see you guys when i get another DSM. Take care all of you and Happy Holidays.

Man, I had high hopes for you while i was reading the entire thread.....sad to hear this has happened. I always thought Bristol had kinds of performance shops. This is one of the reasons a shop will never touch my car for anything other then boring and porting, ECT. Hopefully you will find a DSM and get back in the game sooner then later, except this time build it yourself!! When I had my block being done the shop across the street burned down, it was a wake up call!! Sue Em'.....

Thanks guys, ill let you know what happens as soon as i find out. and as soon as i can get another DSM you better believe i will.

OMGOMGOMGOMGOMG

Pardon the over-use of the smiley function but DAMN. I think I just puked in my mouth a little. I just started reading this thread today and had such high hopes being an ex- ESi owner.
So sorry to hear that, man. Good luck in your pursuit of the $$.
