FCD before SAFC signal or after?

Ok, I have an SAFC on my 90 TSi AWD. Well, i bought a used FCD cause i was getting some fuel cut. The SAFC intercepts the air flow signal to the ECU, and FCD is supposed to do the same thing. Now.....does the FCD need to intercept the new air flow signal after the SAFC; that it is sending to the ECU, or does it need to intercept the original air flow signal before it goes to the SAFC????????

I am under the impression that you dont need an FCD if you are using an AFC...There have been numerous posts about the FCD and the fact that it is a useless device.

I dont know why everyone thinks they need to use this since that Power Pages came out.

get rid off that. I had the FCD on my car way before it was even posted on that page. It tricks the ECU into not going into fuel cut.

You don't need that crap and it doesn't add horsepower, no matter what the magazine says. An FCD would hinder performance by adding in unaccounted fuel into the system which would be regulated by the AFC if you were using it.

take it out, its not worth it.

Your pretty well correct, (FCD = Fuel Cut Defencer) if you use a larger injector and afc is keeps the computer happy and well away from fuel cut because it's technically seeing less air flow now from the AFC.

Well seems like the consensus is that it's useless, so I guess i'll just take it off.

I have a walbro 255 with RC 550s with the SAFC. I'm also about to put my b&m fpr on there since i took it off my 2g and put an aeromotive on that car.

But i put the fcd on the car cause i was getting fuel cut a couple times when trying to tune it. Now granted, a little later i found out i had a blown head gasket, that could've cause the car to fall on it's face and making me think i was getting fuel cut.

So that's why i put the fcd on there, not because the power pages told me to. I'm rarely on dsmtuners, just only if i have questions that i can't figure out or find on my own.....thanks though!
