Kitchener,
Ok my buddy has his car and the blinkers, blink super fast. Like 2 times a second it's awsome looking, and I wanted to do it to mine so I asked, and he said he broke the front two lights to make the rears blink fast. But that isn't a good idea as for no turn signals on the front is not a good idea.

Anyway does anyone know how to do this without breaking the fronts, possible a lower watt bulb? Not sure, but let me know if you have any ideas, thanks!

Damn i'd really like to know. Maybe I should try more searchs... so bored of searching....

It works like this;

The car has a certain amount of energy thats spent on blinkers. No more, no less.

Want SLOW blinking bulbs? Get the BIGGEST lightbulbs you can fit.

Want fast? Get the smallest bulbs.

Removing/adding bulbs also takes/gives energy - which is why your intelligent buddy who decided to drive with no front blinkers has fast rear blinkers.

I did this when I was a 16 year old ricer - it's not cool anymore. It's also ANNOYING as hell after a few days.

it takes a certain amount of resistence to make the bulbs blink at their normal pace..you need to wire an inline resistor to make them faster.....find one that is lesser then the normal resistor value..and as stated above....LED's require alot less resistance so just use those also

Actually, there is a very simple way to make it blink that fast...

I use to own a 95 N/T GS and all I did to make the tails blink fast was switch the green wires..

For example:

When you take off the cover of the rear tails, there are color wires to the bulb.

One of them is solid green.

The other is green with black stripe..

Cut them two wires in the middle and swap it.

So now, the solid green is attached to the wire green w/ black stripe.

Tada! Done

But like I said above, it was on my 95 GS, not sure if your 98 will be the same.

Ill tell you what. Sometimes here lately my left turn signal goes fast. It even does it inside the car too. The little green arrow on the dash goes at about 2 clicks/second. I guess my blinkers are trying to compesate for my engine.......

Yep. Most car noobs are completely unaware that making the bulbs on the outside faster -- makes your insider blinker light, and the click click noise faster.

you make no sense FOO!

in correction, all light bulbs are basically resistors. LED's have less resistance, which allows more current to flow through that branch of the circuit, thus heating the coil that much faster.

And its current, not energy or whatever you said.

ok....so what would one have to do to make them blink normal again? becuase i have the LED's in the tails and want them to blink normal again....i'm guessing i would have to sodder a resistor in-line to the break lights...but how big of one?

you dont want to do that... I had massive 24led bulbs for front turn signals... it annoyed the hell out of me... THe clicking inside the car will drive you mad! They were in on the way to autozone (to buy silverstars) and that was it. IF you REALLY want to do it, but it gets a little annoying.

i think you misunderstood my post....i all ready have LEDS in the tail lights right now, and my Blinkers all ready blink fast (as they should) because of that...i was wondering if i soddered a resistor in each power line going to it, if that would help and how big of a resistor would i need?

my left rear blinker blinks fast but my right light blinks slow.. i also think my left alternates let me try to draw it :p

([ A ][ B ][ Eclipse ][ C ][ D ]) <-- back end light bar thingy :D

k if that lined up right his is how it works.. left blinker goes, A-B-A-B-A.. really fast. Right blinker goes CD-CD-CD-CD slowly(normaly) i want them both to go fast and alternate. any ideas?

Just match the inside and outside bulbs of your right side with the left side. I assume that'd do it.. There are 2 bulbs for each blinker/brake light

well..for mine i only use 1 bulb on each side..i got the clear red euros n it blinks fast for me

here ill show you.. all you do is cut the ground wire.. if you want you signals to blink sequencialy cut the ground on the bulbs furthest away from the side of you car..( so if you were working one the left tailight.. cut the ground from the bulb furthest away from the left side.)

:dsm: You could do all those mods, with the wires and smaller bulbs. But the best and easier way to do this is to go through ebay and buy the hyper bulbs for 3.00 plus S&H with came to about 5.50 when i did it. Dont have to mess around with wires or resistors just plug it in like a regular bulb and thats it.:dsm: I'll try to find the link to them
:dsm:

Just cut the black wires on the bulbs closest to the center peice on each side tada fast blinkers really cool looking actually.

You can actually buy new releys to make your turn signals blink faster or if your handy with electronice you need to put a smaller resistor in the reley. I have heard of these causeing problems and the releys wearing out really easy. Give it a shot and let us know
