I have power locks/windows, I bought the car used and it came with an aftermarket alarm system. When you start the vehicle and move forward, the doors automaticly lock. When the car shuts off, they unlock. The problem is that now I have a turbo timer and if I lock the car and leave.... when the timer shuts off... so does the car, and then the doors unlock.

I need to know if this is a standard feature on power locks or if I need to change something with the car alarm system. I believe it is also equiped with a factory alarm (if at all possible) I accidentaly set it off somehow and it used the horn instead of the aftermarket alarm horn.

Thanks guys!

The unlock on power-off thing is an aftermarket behaviour. I have the OEM alarm, and the only thing that it does with the locks is prevent you from locking it while the key is inserted (but can still be locked while TTing down). Have a friend with an aftermarket that does a similar behaviour, but it will randomly unlock the doors. :b

I have this same problem. I bought this car and don't know the history but I do know there is an aftermarket alarm as I can see the "brain" under the dash. It sucks major ASS...I've had to call AAA twice to unlock my door because I left the key in the ignition while I checked under the hood to do some last minute belt tightening and checking. Now I have a spare key. The door is unlocked when I go outside but right when I close the door with the key in the ignition it automatically locks...WTF is that! I need to figure out how to get rid of that alarm.

Professional uninstallation. Or get the keychain fob for it, and keep it on your main keyring, with your car key on its own ring.

I read this article about car alarm installations from places that do it "professionaly" and then I looked under my dash  good thing I've been doing so much wiring with the SAFC and gauges, timer, fuel pump re-wire, etc...
Looks like they just splice it into stock stuff, it's a mess but if you can follow the wires to the original location (towards the top of the steering column in the back) you could easily remove it and re-connect the stock stuff.

Little tip, lay down on your driver side seat with your feet over the head rest so you can work upside-down underneath the steering wheel, the more comfortable you are, the easier it will be to get work done down there. :thumb:

I'll let you know how this whole door locking system goes, I'm going to trial and error it tonight.... :sneaky:
