i am installing a external wastegate as soon as it gets nice again. i have posted kinda about this but not this question. i am going to install it on the manifold... what can i do with the stock internal wastegate? i was thinking of leaving it on and just not running any boost to it(plugging it up) is this ok? or could i use both wastegates if i still have boost creep? this should cure my creep though so i am not to worried about it.

in short can i leave it in and if so how do i do this?

If your running a big enough external you wont need the stock one, and Im sure that if you route the vacuum tube from the comp housing to the external(if they run off vac, never seen one). then Im sure your fine with keeping the stocker on just make sure the external is the one that dumps the exhaust and that the stocker is out of the equation.

If you pipe it back to the exhaust they sound the same as internal. I just bought a tsi with a b16g which supposely has big boost creep. How do I fix that then? I was just going to use the external wastegate off my oil car.

i have bad boost creep. i can port a turbo well(least i was told by members of this site i did a good job). i don't want the bigger flapper because i have heard they blow open and you can't run as much boost, which i am close to being able to run higher boost on race gas, and i plan on doing that this summer. my boost creep is so bad if i set it at 11 psi(spools at 2800 rpm) and will spike 22 psi at 5700 rpm so i let off the gas. the noise won't bother me i have a 3" o2 eliminator downpipe w/ external dump already, so it shouldn't be much louder(and if it is. GOOD i love noise)

i don't wanna pull off my downpipe/o2 housing during this install the rnr o2 eliminator is a pain in the ass to put back on. i am willing to cut off the tube for the external dump, and weld a peice of metal over it but i really don't wanna unbolt it.

could i just leave my dump tube attached and just plug my stock wastegate? i am concerned with it blowing open because of to much exhaust pushing on it and if i go to run 22+ psi at the track(of course i will have the supporting mods before i do this) i want it to hold what ever i set it at all through the rpms.

also i don't want to weld this shut because i am sure i will bump up to a larger turbo eventually, and i would want to sell my 16g.

So the internal dump is the preferred way to go??? Explain please trying to figure out what to do for my exhaust........This is what i think i am gonna do let me know how it sounds..

1. Thermal R & D Cat Back

2. High Flow Cat

3. RNR O2 3" Eliminator Downpipe w/ internal dump

It will sound like shit to most people. But if ya love DSM's, the worse it sounds, the better it sounds! :thumb:

Is it better to get the wastegate on the o2 housing or the manifold? How exactly do these work? I know the internal one works off vaccum that pushes a rod and opens the flapper. Do the external still use the rod to open the flapper?
