external wastegate question

i have a question...not entirelly sure of the answer, but the wastegate in specific is a tial 38mm. Anywho, it has a 14.5 spring in it, if I run it without a boost controller the boost will be 14.5 right??

Does it matter what size spring you have in with a boost controller or does the boost controller somehow eliminate the spring.

Yes, if you only had like a 6 pound spring in it it would make it hard to control boost past 20 psi because the spring in it would be so weak that the exhaust gas will force it open before your desired boost level. It's not an issue with the 1 bar spring though, just keep in mind you can't go under that much boost.
