Hello, I'm looking at buying a manifold and a tial external wastegate from a friend and I'm wondering if there's any supporting mods I need to go along with it. I have a fmic and a blitz bov, nothing major. He's selling it for a good price so I'm just trying to figure out if there's anything else I need to be able to run the external wastegate.

Thanks

First of all it isn't likely that it will have any performance benefit to you currently so make that the first point. Next, make sure it is a dsm turbo flange, if it is t3 or t4 flanged it won't work with your current turbo (I assume 14b/13g.) Lastly, you will need to have the wastegate flapper on your current turbo welded shut then remove the actuator arm.

Another note, it could be a crappy ebay manifold and it could just crack, and be more hassle than it's worth.

I see no benefit for you. I also DONT see any mods list, only what you mentioned. Try filling that out and we can all help more. Unless youre running a larger turbo at high boost levels, the internal WG is probably going to be fine. Especially with some porting. I run a decent sized pte/internally gated at 30psi with hardly any spike.

If youre on a stock turbo at stock boost levels or around there, it wont matter. If you run into spike issues, port the wg hole and the o2 housing.

I would hope your "friend" wouldn't try and pass a knock-off part as others have mentioned. If you plan on doing more to the car then I would say get it. If you have no further intention of modding the car, ie. larger turbo (more boost) then your fine with what you have. It won't hurt to have it but I would personally focus on something that will net you a larger performance gain.
