Im trying to hook up my external gate. I know I leave the top port open.
Do I run the side port to my mbc?
Do I need a niple on the turbo to tap into? I dont have a niple on my J pipe.
Does anyone have some GOOD pics not drawings?
I have seached but have not a clear answer.

Thanks

All you have to do is run the signal side of the mbc to the side port of the wastegate. The other side is attached to a vac line on the manifold or the bov line.

Thanks
I guess Im over thinking it.
Thanks again.

The signal side of the mbc does go to the side port of the wastegate, and you could hook the other side fo the mbc to the manifold and/or bov but it is not recommended. The best places are on the compressor cover or the j-pipe. This way you can get more consistent boost response before going through the intercooler etc. The bov line should be precisely for the bov.
It is very easy to tap a nipple on your j-pipe. All you need is a fitting and the appropriate tap for the threads on the fitting you got. Drill a hole, run the tap through it, and screw the fitting in. For good measure I run a small amount of jb weld around the edge of where the fitting and pipe meet.

My problem is I have a down firing turbo. So I dont really have a Jpipe to tap into. Is there any other way?

I'm going to disagree with that as my results were the opposite. I had a nipple on the j-pipe and my peak boost and associated RPM was inconsistent between pulls. I switched the source to the intake manifold and have consistent results now.

You'll be fine if you get your source from the intake manifold.

i have mine tapped into the bov and i have no problems with my 38mm.
but this is only temporary since im getting a nipple to weld on my jpipe soon

Where can you get this nipple, i need to tap my J-pipe for my EWG.

Brian and I have agreed to disagree on this. ;)

I swear by tapping the vac line for your MBC as close to the boost source as possible. Either on an IC pipe right after the turbo outlet, or on the turbo compressor cover itself. It gives you better response, less chance of spike, and could save your turbo depending on how you maintain your car.

Anyone have pics?

What pictures are you looking for?

That we have :thumb:

Either one will work and your results probably won't be that huge of a difference with one way vs. the other. Or you can try one and if you don't like it, try the other. That way you have first hand experience with both and can figure out which you like/works better.

Just some pics of different ways you have it hooked up.

I drilled and tapped my nipple on my compressor cover. I always believe that was the best option to get a boost source. But yes you can get it from the j pipe, compressor cover, or intake manifold. I wouldn't recommend the BOV line. I had that original on my old turbo not my favorite option.

If the turbo is off the car I recommend tapping the compressor cover because it's a fairly simple process. Take compressor cover off, drill hole, tap hole, screw in NPT thread w/ teflon tape or other sealant, put back compressor cover back on turbo. Done

If the turbo is on the car I would tap the j-pipe. Same directions except you obviously dont take off the compressor cover you take off the j-pipe.

I can snap some pics of my setup when I get home.

And for the vac lines hookup. You attached one end of the the mbc to your boost source(j-pipe, compressor cover, intake mani), and the the other of the mbc connect to the side nipple of the WG.
