External Dump O2 Worth it?

So does an o2 dump get rid of boost creep totally? I am afraid if I do it that I will still get creep, and then have to buy an external gate. Also someone should post some pics of the o2 dump that they have made.

your question depends on how well the rest of the system flows. Dumping ot the atmosphere will reduce the resistance to flow in the waste gate side of the exhaust.

i got the joep 02dump was 150 shipped. i like it alot there was a big power increase and better top end. my buddy said his took .4 secs off his et and gave him 4 more mph ove rthe stock 02 set up

I have the 3" RnR o2 elim. downpipe with a test pipe and the 3" thermal cat back. I never had boost creep before that and now I'm hitting 22psi at WOT. I think its too good of an exhaust for the stock turbo, because it lets the trubo breath so well it out flows the stock wastegate flapper. And it hesitates when at that psi which Im guessing is fuel or boost cut. I have a Blitz boost controller but I havent put it in yet, I might tonight. And yeah, its retarded loud, I love it. The only thing I dont like about it is that you can small raw exhaust in your car when you open it up.

Would you recommend the Joe-P o2 dump? Are the flanged thick and are the welds strong? And was it pretty easy to put on? Did it all line up correctly? Let me know I was interested in buying one. Thanks.

I purchased the Punishment racing 02 housing w/ external dump for $150 shipped, but..., despite the pretty pictures on the website they did a crappy job welding it together and it had a few holes where it the pipes were welded to the flange. I ended up spending another $80 getting it rewelded together and ported and now it works pretty good but it only slowed down my boost creep. Now it stops at about 10psi until about 5k rpm's at wot and then it starts to creep up to 16psi by the time i shift at 7k rpms where it used to just creep up to about 18psi at wot.

I just received the Joe P O2 housing with external dump. There were no gaskets included. For those of you who have purchased the same part, did you receive gaskets? Any problems with the Joe P? It looks like the same part from Punishment Racing so I'm assuming it is.

An externally dumping O2 housing will not get rid of creep on the stock internal wastegate. The creep you get on an internal is caused by the restriction of the wastegate itself, not by the restriction of the O2 housing. Eliminating the O2 housing will not eliminate this restriction, you need to do that by doing lots of porting.

Question;

Considering that the external dump, dumps right under the hood, and apparently not everyone likes the sound at WOT, but perfers the performance. Would it be fesable to weld a slightly larger dia. pipe to the end of the dump tube and run it under the car to a, say, dirtbike style silencer/spark arrester? Would that be defeating the purpose or just makin it sound cool? Just a thought:confused:

I apologize if you recieved a housing with problems with the weld, if you contact me I will work something out with you. I had some problems with my former partner and have taken over the business full time and will be doing all of the building myself, to ensure quality. I have also invested in a new tig/mig to upgrade weld quality .

Yes, actually, that is very common. They weld on a muffler from a croch rocket (or anything similar) and they cut a hole in the bottom side of the bumber and run the tip through there. It look pretty cool, and It sounds good too.
