Exploding radiator...

Soo started to notice my car getting warm after driving it after a couple hours. Next day it gets 3/4 temp on the gauge during the morning commute. I was freakin all day thinking I blew a hg. I took my chances and drove it home. It was all good till i hit highway speed, temp shot up, threw it in neutral then it died. Spewed antifreeze all over but it looks like it shot out from the top and bottom of the radiator. Had a nice $212.00 tow..Question is could it have caused any real damage?

It could be a blown head gasket pressure form the combustion chamber gets in the coolant and then its got to go some place.

Eh I dont think so. I started it today ran fine and it ran great before, no smoke nothin. The chemical flight path looked like it came from the radiator, its even shot on the hood latch

Compression test. If that checks out, Id replace the pump, stat, and rad IMO.

Add coolant, start it and see where it leaks from

If it got hot enough to kill your car its probably not good. it might run good for now but i would start doing some serious tests. be careful

ya i was just worried about damage. The radiator definetly is old, its baked brown near the upper hose

Your car shut down...overheated...compression test, leak down test, replace suspect components and then some...THEN be prepared to STILL have a blown head gasket...you know what you are worried about...you WANT someone to tell you not to worry about it...but it's not going to happen...car had a major owie...could be worse than you see...it MIGHT be okay but the chances are actually less that it is just a radiator issue...its more likely a head resurface, head gasket, head studs, radiator and water pump issue

ya crazy its only got 105,000 miles, oh well. so megans a ehh brand, think there radiator would be ok?
