hey guys/gals
well my radiator went out on my yesterday. i was about to leave my relatives house and i notice there was a bunch of coolant on the floor. i didnt want to drive it home so i called AAA and had a flatbed tow it home.
i ordered a new radiator from autozone.
im about to replace it as soon as they call me to pick up the radiator.
anyways replacing the radiator shouldn't hard to do. i even looked it up online LOL
just in case How Do I Change My Car Radiator?
while replacing my radiator im also going to do an oil change. and replace my turbo return line because that thing is leaking also. everything is pretty much easy to do, but any inputs on which one to do first.
my radiator is going to be picked up in an hour or so.
my question is should i do the oil change first or drain out the radiator first and remove it. put the new one fill it up and then do the oil change or can i drian both of them at the same time? thanks in advance

thanks for the quick response. this might be a dumb question but since im removing the turbo return line and of course i have a new gasket. do i have to put rvt on the gasket?

I would remove the radiator and then do the oil line to make some more room to work. You wont have to but rtv in the gasket but i would recommend it for a bit of extra assurance.

BTW, thats a damn nice looking 1g uou got there.

RTV is optional, though I always use it. Are you changing out the radiator hoses too? Drain both fluids and do the oil change and oil line with radiator out of car and you'll be able to clean any road grime that's caked around your 16g. Keep that car clean. Looks great, hate seeing it on a flat bed, but good precaution. AAA rocks:hellyeah:

@blackwidow97 thanks the body is flawless except that crack on the bumper LOL.

@streetilleagle yup triple AAA rocks, 100 miles free towing, no extra charge for a flatbed. the radiator hose was replaced about 6 months ago so they should be good. they still look new even, it still has the sticker bar code thing from autozone. when i get the extra cash im going with silicone hoses. but for now i just need to get mobile so i can go to work LOL.
i had to take the bus today and it was hot like an oven.

Have you confirmed the radiator is leaking or leaked? More or less do you know exactly why the coolant was on the ground. If you havent changed out the t-stat and radiator cap i would go a head and get those also. Im doing a almost full swap out of parts on my cooling system. Dont forget the heater hoses and the little hose to the turbo.

goodness gracious of lord. trying to put the turbo return line is a PITA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
i spent 6 hours under my car to replace a radiator an oil change which took me 30 mins to take off the oil filter. it wouldnt bugged!!!!!!
anyways can someone link point me to the right direction for alternatives to those L shaped turbo oil return lines. im not liking that thing! i had 2 spares and i broke one trying to bend it so i can screw that sucker in!!
its 2 am and i started at 7:30 PM!
no one told me that the turbo return line was a PITA! LOL thanks for the heads up guys LOL

Shouldn't be that hard. Fasten the top of the line to the turbo, then just position the bottom part on the oil pan, then bolt it up. Hell, it's got a flex section built in so you can move it around where you need be.

have you looked at the vendors might be more info for you there than the ebay line. I would ask the seller questions, seems cheap, but i could be wrong the turbo line can be a pita if problems occure especially on the road. Maybe some has used it.

All those AN fittings for $50??WTF I paid $30 for just one Earls fitting. That kit comes complete to hook up everything. You might just have to get it. Anyone who has a similar setup definitely paid more than that to get it done.
