So I've been looking around, and the only thread I can find is where the OP has a whistle that gets louder at higher RPM. Everyone suggested an exhaust leak, but I have a slightly different problem. I hear a whistle noise coming from what I think is my muffler, but it could be anywhere behind me. I can't check because it only happens when I press on the throttle a certain amount, and not when idling, only when actually driving, and it happens in every gear. I was thinking exhaust leak because of another thread, but it suddenly starts at a certain amount of throttle; not leading up to it. What could be causing this?
And while I'm asking about exhaust, I'll ask this as well. I was showing off for one of my friends by revving the engine and it made a crackling sound at a high RPM. It's supposedly a Megan exhaust, but the previous owner wasn't terribly truthful. I think the cat has either been gutted or it's a test pipe, but I'm not sure. Could that have let unburnt fuel through, and the noise was it burning in the exhaust?
As for anyone who has been in my other threads, I picked up my car from the mechanic the other day, and he had finished EVERYTHING! My car was finally done after months! Only to try and drive away to find out the clutch was leaking. I dropped it off again earlier today

As far as the crackling sound that sounds like a gutted cat or test pipe so there's nothing to worry about there. If it absolutely is unbearable and drives you crazy I would say to continue looking for the source of the noise, but if not I would say just drive the thing.
