Running open3 inch downpipe right now. Looking to maybe just add 3 inch straight pipe back or possibly muffler. Not sure what options will result in the least power loss. Suggestions?

mufflers do restrict power but nothing you will ever notice, straight back will be loud without residnator on there, but 3'' straight back would be a good bet depending on your setup and or power goals..

I went from stock exhaust to a 3" turbo back with just a Thermal Muffler and i love it its not really loud but it deffenatley was an increase in power

Loud doesnt bother me. I am running open downpipe which is as loud as it gets. I want it a bit quieter so I can hear the turbo spool and the BOV because right now all i hear is RRRRRAAAAAAAA RRRAAAAAA. Maybe straight 3 inchwith Flowmaster 10 series?

Ive never heard the flowmaster on a 4g but like i said i have the Thermal muffler and you can deffenatly hear the turbo spool but i cant really hear my stock bov unless im really listening for it.

The Flowmaster 10 series is single chamber. Want something that flows but doesnt cost a lot. I also have to renew tabs next month and get emissions tested. I dont think i will pass. I have to spend $150 toward "fixing" it if I dont pass

I have been looking at the Tsudo 3' cat back exhaust. Just curious if anyone has heard this exhaust? And what kind of power increase i can expect. Other wise i am goin to save up for the 3' thermal turbo back.

I ran 3" open downpipe and did some datalogging. Then switched back to my 2.5" downpipe/testpipe/3" Thermal catback with 2 mufflers and the restrictive neckdown. Identical power and spool both ways, around the 400 w.h.p. mark.

Basically, any straight thru 3" muffler and catback exhaust will do fine.

3" and add an exhaust resonator from road race engineering. Thats what i did and it sounds good, also you can see it from behind so I don't get pulled over by the cops for no muffler. It's loud enough that the cops will get behind be if the hear it.

It's a great exhaust for the money. I had no issues installing it and it sounds nice. I would never spend more money after using this system. Here's a video of it on my car with a 3" downpipe although the video doesn't do it justice.

I am running a straight through 3" turbo exhaust with no cat and a v-force muffler, with FP race manifold and a 16G, stock O2 housing, and it is probably your best bet for power though the exhaust is a bit loud (but sounds great).

Let me tell you, even with this setup, I had an exhaust leak pre-turbine and I don't know what happened but my car was CRAZY powerful. When I fixed the leak it was still good but not like crazy like before.

My advice.. if you like that crazy power like when you run an open downpipe, run my setup but with an external wastegate set to dump the exhaust at WOT. You only need the bypass at WOT, cause thats when you want the power. Might cost you a few pennies tho.

Wow this thread is old as hell. I ended up running open 3" downpipe and then just ran straight pipe with a Magnaflow high flow cat (damn emissions!) I passed emissions though which was surprising.

Now in my current DSM I have 3" downpipe into 3.5" all the way back to a 3" Blitz Nur Spec and it sounds ####ing amazing
