I got a jdm 6 bolt engine and my exhaust manifold studs look like they 7 bolt studs because the outer edges are larger than stock. Does anyone know if the jdm engines have different heads studs? I cannot get the lower left bolt to tighten, it just spins. I want to buy a new stud kit but I don't know if I should get the 6 bolt or 7 bolt stud kit.

I just ran to my local hardware store and picked up the right thread pitch/length stainless studs. I think the full set cost me maybe $3.

You said you got all the studs in except for one? Its possible the threads in your head are stripped and the stud is just spinning freely. It happens to alot of heads, as long as all the other ones are tight one missing stud isn't the end of the world. If it bothers you, you can tap the hole out to accept a larger stud. Also, on my head, the lower left and the lower right had much larger studs. Not sure if its the same on JDM or not.

If you are having problems tightening the studs in general, use 2 nuts and 2 wrenches. Tighten the outside nut to the inside nut, then spin the outside nut until the stud is secure, then sepearate the two nuts.
