You guys have this backwards or atleast it appears that way. Retarding the exhaust cam is comonly done to make yoru car spool faster thus decreasing bottom end power. The thing is it's not as comonly done on aftermarket cams because they have already been tweaked to the point where best spool is acheived anyway especialy with the fp2x's whose fame to claim is no loss of low end power like fp2's and even more top end. So what you did by retarding your exhaust cam one tooth(which by the way people usualy don't go a whole tooth because it's to drastic a change) you messed up the chemisrty of the cams. To be honest I would set it back and leave it you might spool slower but I think you'll actually run faster.
). The one thing is it does not increase low end power it just moves the powerband down which is slightly diffrent but tech does the same thing. Pretty much a cam will have a certain lift and duration which will put your powerband at a specific and unique point in your rpm range. By doing this mod your going well I like where it is but I want it to shift down a little bit. In my opinion it's great if you get a set of cams and they don't do what you thought they would. Like say you bought a set of fp3's and they ended up increasing lag to a point that you weren't satisfied with but you like the top end they give you so you sacraifse some of that top end and either retard the exhaust or advance the intake up to a tooth and you spool faster yet because you shifted your powerband you lose some of that up top power where it was before. Only case I would think this woul dmake sense doing with aftermarket cams is if your shifting at stock 7.5k rev limiter or abouts with aftermarket cams because your afraid of reving to high yet your car is pulling till next week. So you figure why have it setup where your powerband isn't optimized during the most comon operating area and you retard the exhaust cam shift the powerband down still pull till your 7.5k yet spool 2-300rpms sooner.
go figure. like 300 rpm sooner, full boost by 4500. well we'll see what buschur says when its on the dyno.
