Sorry if this is in the wrong place (mod help me if it is) but could someone tell me exactly what engine this is? I think its a 4G63 but not 100% sure on this. Also, would it be worth building?

It was my first car, 1990 eagle talon non turbo. I think its sat in the yard for about 7 years hahaha. It quit running one day, left me on the side of the road and never really got her running again. I was considering rebuilding the whole thing from the bottom up. Any ideas on how much it would be, if at all worth it?

Thanks

It is definitely a NT 4g63. As for rebuilding it, do you know why it died on the road wont start? Is it mechanical? (Maybe timing belt jumped, compression is too low ect ect) or is it an electrical issue? Fuel pump, fuel injector resistor pack, maybe even a blown fuse. Id figure out exactly what is wrong first.

Mechanically it should be fine. My dad and I honed out the block and got new bearings and piston rings for it a couple months before it pooped on me. He says it's an electrical issue, not sure Exactly what. Instead of trying to use electrical parts that are 15+ years old on this car, I would end up stripping ALL the electrical components and just buying new ones (wires and such) any idea on how much that would be? Any sites offer a complete electrical kit? Sorry if these are bad questions, I'm kinda clueless on this stuff hahaha.

The block and head only have about 78k miles on it, it would be a daily driver, not trying to make much hp out of this bad boy. Once again, thanks for all the replies fellas.

It looks in extremely good conditions (to me), even the harness looks like it haven't being touched.

If you have the money to buy the complete harnes and sensors, go for it, but nobody will guarantee you it will start, you have to do a diagnostic and see why it doesn't start.

If the problem is electrical it won't cost you much (if you do the diagnostic yourself), all what you need is time to spend on it, we all can guide you from here and/or here you can find what to do step by step.

Here's a 4G63 wiring harness diagram.

You can get some sensors and whatnot from here: http://www.streettunedmotorsports.com/dsm/dsm_tuning.htm Other sensors can be got at your local parts store or elsewhere online.
A good source of connectors could be this place: http://connectors.sheridanengineering.com/index-3.htm
And depending on what exactly you want to do it can cost from under $100 (pull another harness at a junk yard and replace any damaged plugs with these spare ones) to several thousand $$$ if you decide to replace absolutely everything including the ECU with new components. One thing that is extremely expensive, although some do it anyways, is a multi-pin plug like this one:

It is used to pass wires through fire wall. Main advantage of using a plug like this is the fact that motor can be pulled with part of the harness so it is much quicker to remove it if something needs servicing.

One thing that would make this job easier is to set up couple of peg board panels and lay out old harness on them. This way you can put a hook where every corner or splice is in the harness and mark how long each wire has to be, similar to how they make harnesses at the factory.

That's a 91-94 diagram and if I'm not mistaken that's a turbo diagram, but the OP has a NT and is a 90, which it will not be accurate, however it will give him an idea how things works.

OP, here is a good start on how to diagnose a no start.

Edit,

My bad, that's really a 90 diagram but still being turbo.

Omg you guys are awesome, thanks so much for the replies!
Yea I'm sure rats and other varmint have nestled into the engine bay and goodness knows what they've chewed through so it looks like a complete harness and sensors swap should be a good start. I will start getting more into it tomorrow (off from work tomorrow) and hopefully be able to get some more info out to you guys.

Would it be something sold all together in a kit? Or am I just going to have to hunt down individual pieces and put it all together?
