I was looking at Evo tuning.. I was bored... and I stumbled across something that they use a lot as a logger. It is called EvoScan. I went on the web site: http://www.limitless.co.nz/#SupportedVehicles, and it actually says it works with our cars too and any mitsubishi up from 94 using the "MUT/MUT-II/MUT-III protocol" for the logging... This logger logs everything including knock sum.. would it be possible that because this logger uses the Mitsubishi protocol and not the generic obd protocol that it can log things that the other generic obd2 loggers can't?

I logged with 2.3 and 2.4 today, both very slow with Tactrix cable, 2-3 & 3-4 pull only logged 6 lines with 15 items. Values are still wrong for MPH, injector & dtc reading inopertive. BTW I have a 95 EPROM ECU with keydriver chip. and no read from MDP

I just tried this on my 95 EPROM with the same results, although I didn't bother with 2.4 yet. I also have a 1.3 evoscan style cable, so maybe 2.4 will be better. Ill try it later and get back to you guys...

So I sent in a support ticket about the eprom ecu problems...this is what he says.

EvoScan said:
yes hybrid mitsubishi protocol sucks, sorry, thats mitsubishi design, not mine.

Great...

I'm assuming that means there is nothing he can do about it. I sent a reply so we'll see where this goes.

Are there any other programs that work with a usb cable? Or do I have to run some serial port emulation program or something?

so basically i paid them $25 for nothing. They did a hell of a job advertising it. Im just glad i used a friends tatrix cable instead of buying theirs. Well looks like i will stick with pocketlooger until i get DSMlink.

Anyone want evoscan software? i will sell it cheap! $24.99!!! J/K :sneaky:

you guys know you can use evoscan on the 98-99 ecu to set your idle the right way? I just stumbled on it last nite, you just have to push to the SAS mode in the actuator tests and then you can set idle with the BISS.

The injector tests work to, I can't confirm if the fuelpump test works but the radiator fan/ high and low tests don't work.

I was able to download the stock ROM image from my 99 gsx ecu by using ecuflash. Haven't tried to modify it or flash it.

While the car is running , startup evoscan and then click actuators on the right bottom right of the program and then click SAS mode. Then adjust your BISS to where you want it.
I was almost 500 rpm with my adjustment I did after my 1g tb swap.

How exactly do you do the injector test? You just have the car running and than ???

:dsm:

In v2.4 and 2.5 its at the top of the window where it says "injector scaling" the defualt value is 513 because the older evos came with 513 cc injectors. Its not in the data logging window as a value.

Also if you want your TPS reading to be right do this:

With the car running and your foot off the throttle look at throttle position in the log window. My value was 36, lets call it Tc. Now turn the engine off and then flip the ignition back to the on position WITHOUT starting the motor. Press the pedal all the way to the floor and record the value. Mine was 255. lets call it To.

Now subtract To - Tc --> 255 - 36 = 219 , lets call this value D = 219

So now we need the formula (( x - Tc) / D) * 100

My forumla for TPS looked like this:
((x-36)/219)*100
So just doubleclick on the value in the datalogging window and enter the formula into the eval field. The only variable is x which is raw throttle position from the ecu.Your TPS value in the logging window now reads 0 to 100 % if you did it right.

If you adjust your TPS position on the throttle body obviosuly you need to redo your calculation.
