EvoScan - Does anyone use it??

I was looking at Evo tuning.. I was bored... and I stumbled across something that they use a lot as a logger. It is called EvoScan. I went on the web site: http://www.limitless.co.nz/#SupportedVehicles, and it actually says it works with our cars too and any mitsubishi up from 94 using the "MUT/MUT-II/MUT-III protocol" for the logging... This logger logs everything including knock sum.. would it be possible that because this logger uses the Mitsubishi protocol and not the generic obd protocol that it can log things that the other generic obd2 loggers can't?

hmm, no i dunno if that would work the way EvoScan will. It is a base program where EvoScan is loaded and wrote to do things specific with the Mitsu ECM. I'll buy the program if I cant "aquire" it ya know.. .. But I do think I'm going to make one. I have a few old OBD/II Scanners with the changable plugs and one for the DSM is in here. I'll just wire my adapter to it as i think it should go then just put on a simple pigtale to my ground/bare and then plug it to pin1, or 9 (whichever needs to be grounded) and then I think I can just go from there. I think I'll buy that USB to UART Adapter tomorrow and wire it up when it gets here and try and get a copy of EvoScan

Now the J1962M to DB9F, Type D Cable cut the DB9 plug off and wire it to the USB/UART module and you're set. Total of less than $30
I dont believe you need to use the ISO Adapter really. The standard UART adapter should be able to handle all that.

Another cable option is the original Tactrix cable that Colby Boles sells (Colby is the guy behind EcuFlash).

Yea but making one would be cheaper, $90 is a joke for something that cost roughly $25 to make... seriously...

I'll probably just take my chance doing it my way as I'm sure its basicly the same way they do it (not as clean) but will probably still work exactly the same.

Actually I'll do you one even better... Go get yourself a 4mm Pin Header from Radio Shack, a Serial Cable, and then all the parts on this here schematic.... and solder away. Then you'll have what you need (without the ODB2 adapter molding) But it will plug in... Then execute your EvoScan tool and have fun. Ta-Da... YAY ME!!

It is confirmed to work with Chrysler OBDII That is all I can say.

Well if anyone does plan on ordering evoscan, make sure you understand it's going to be 2 weeks to get your cable to the US....still waiting for mine.

ok so remember my first post, where i said Evoscan told me this will work for my car? well it doesnt. i ordered it and plugged everything in and it fails to initialize. i emailed evoscan again and told them exactly what was happening. do you want to know what their response was? "thanks, ok I'll work harder to get the new version out to you asap. thanks again." that reply doesnt even make sense. they suckered me in to buy it and now im screwed. so i went ahead and bought pocketlogger and that works great.

What doesnt it work with? There's screen shots of it working on OBDII's right in this thread. If it doesn't work for 95's that's not surprising. It was a risk you took as a 95 attempting to use it, sucks that they said it would work but perhaps the new zealand dsm's didnt have the same ecu to deal with.

95. The 98+ is only a new addition (When I first got it, even they were not supported)

And the ECU is the same every where int he world.

your baud rate for using the datacable will be done on the PC not the ECU.

i tried everything including changing the baudrate. it doesnt work for 95 cars.

According to the EvoScan website, there is now hybrid support for the 95/6 ECU to be released in v2.3. Anyone know if the Multiplex adapter will work for EvoScan?

Yea the 2.3 beta has some nice new gauge layouts as well. I haven't got to go and try it yet since its storming over here.

that is very odd,
but if we can ever get this to work, it is amazing. i had a lancer, and i used this program to log with. and open ecu to write to the ecu with. one word. "Amazing".

i really like the software, so if they can get this damn thing to work already it would be great not to have to use the palm anymore.
