EVOIII People Whats going to be your next turbo?!

I am in the same boat. I have an evo 16g and I like it but I want more. I have my motor pulled and I am making room for the usual forged internals and 272/272 BC cams.

I want over 400 hp but still be able to get a pretty good spool. Basically I want to hear the tires struggle for traction in first gear when it spools. If that is possible.

I break traction in 1st gear, im looking for that same hard power hitting response.

I will be going with a GT30R or 35R in one form or another, I have finally decided. Now whether that's full garrett or the FP version I need to have a long sit down chat with one of my long time DSM buddies.

Well, all I got to say is Holy s**t!

Im a changed man! Ive been retunning my car for a day or so now with the GT 3076 and I wish we all that them!

with the .48 AR im sure my top end will not make the big numbers, but man the power and responce is insane:thumb:

and it looks so stock!

I love the 50-trim(green) as I was once an owner. Gotta say it's not a big jump though.....I would go with at least a 60-1 or bigger although 2nd gear will never be the same, 3rd and up is all:rocks: :D

OMG 0.48 A/R on a GT30R! That poor, defenseless turbo is choking to death!

Seriously, though, it's good to hear you're happy with it. Maybe someday I'll get a real project car...

60-1 is nice but that needs alot of supporting mods to really get the most outta that turbo, I dont have the cash for a SMIM and id want to use large injectors, so the AFC would have to go........And a AFC is really nice on smaller turbo setups, but if your going big go big or go home.

bfdahl when are you seeing full boost? I like insant power, and good TQ numbers and somthing that can keep pulling at high speeds hard.

What have you ran with the evo 16g or even what kind of power number have you put down? I would say if the car has not hit very low 12's to high 11's keep it and put the money somewhere else.

The car runs very hard, and its not a butt dyno, you know the rules of the site. No racing talk, but the car will walk away from my good freinds 12.2 evo all day long.

Im going to be getting a supra side mount, and a Eprom with a stage III chip.

Motor is also being dropped in soon, 9:1 compression weicos with eagle rods, blah blah

Hoping to be in the mid-high 300whp

Car is being tuned by AMS

Its very hard to break into the high11s but im sure with how my car runs, its capable of low 12s...........

Full boost is in at 3600 to 3700 rpm. a BB 50 trim would be alot more responsive, but

Ill take the feeling of being rear-ended by a Mack truck over that! (it pulls VERY hard)

and I have not run it over 18 psi yet:D

OMG Sounds like somthing ill like:rocks:

I like the fp green because I dont have to get a new o2 housing and header. Since I just bought new ones.

But is it a big difference over a 16g evo III. LIke I mean a $1299.99 difference. Because at that price you can get bigger turbos. But like the other turbos on forced performance you have to get that new o2 housing that uses clamps instead of bolts and like a new wastegate.

New turbos are frusterating. So many choices.

Ahh...the wonders of custom fabrication.

Yeah there are so many turbos out there, honestly.................I look at other platforums now to find out some things.

SR20 guys are helpful, alot of people like it spoon feed and scream 50TRIM!!!!!! Or what ever the New COOL" turbo to have is.

bfdahl setup sounds great, and its resonable most people would want more or bigger but to many people half has there turbo setups nowa days......

Bigger is better only when supported right!

well, It dose not have to be hard.

you just ask your self: What kind of fuel will i use?

were will most of my driving be?

and will I use water or meth injection?

I wanted things simple, so no water injection. My fuel is shitty 91, and the cars is mostly a DD.

so Ill need a turbo that has its best effeincy at my fuels detonation theshold. like 18 to 22 psi on 91.

so a 20g, 50 trim or BB 50 or 56 trim have there sweet spots in this area. If your fuel is 93 or your using a higher octane or water injection, anything that raises your detonation threshold, get a bigger turbo and run more boost:thumb:

Im not 100% sure but RRE told me that the Green is acually a 56 trim!

^^^^ Thats strange, I've always heard the green is a 50 trim. As for me, I've run the evoIII the past 2 summers & will probably upgrade next spring. Currently I'm looking at a PTE Dual BB 50 or 56 trim. My car is mainly a street car so I want to keep the quick spool would just like abit more top end. I think one of these will do exactly what I want & have only heard good things about them. Now if money wasn't an object I would defently go 3052.

Sorry dude, green is a 50-trim:beatentodeath: Yea...the EVO III will pull you out of a corner while the green is a bit different. It feels like the EVO III's mid-range power except this feeling last until redline (7500 RPMs). I've never ran them past this. I only had them set at 27psi. Lag is nothin to worry about...most people just say so because the books do. Once you have owned or driven a 35R or 3065 (a few other ones too), you'll quickly realize that they are very very streetable.

And you say you're gonna run slicks all summer? You must be makin the big bucks seeing as slicks aren't cheap and they wear out pretty fast.:sosad:
